The things i wanna buy are:
1. Zune 2
2. Logitech z-2300 speakers
3. JBLGTO607c
Guess US it is then...thanks!
Regarding online shopping, can you suggest a reliable site for online shopping for US stores, who deliver in India.

Should I buy from wii Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand?

( Mods please merge/ move thread if already exists)

I am doing a trip to Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand. I am planning to buy some electronic items from the trip.

My shortlisting suggests

1) Wii sports + Fit ( 21k at chroma india , don't know about Fit)

2) Good camera with 20x + optical zoom (Please suggest , I am novice photographer )

3) Open to suggestion ( budget 20k max INR)

Any idea in which country , which place I should buy these?

Also what about wii games? I heard they are region coded. can that be a problem compared to buying wii US model?

From my net/ google R &d looks like it is best to buy both Wii , digital camera from US than from these three countries. But I will check the price in Singapore if is marginally more then ( say 5-max10%) then will buy there , else US jindabad.

here is my opinion for all 3

1. I would prefer xbox 360 or ps3 rather than Wii.

2. A good 20+ opt zoom camera would be 1 among these 3
Canon SX10 IS, Olympus SP-570 UZ, Olympus SP-590 UZ(26X).

3. How about a Archos 5 (A Portable Media Player)?

Regarding shopping, i feel USA is best for wii/ps3/xbox and also digicam. wonder whether archos 5 is available in singapore or not.

heard electronics are more expensive in Singapore.

Hope this helps

Yes, Wii games are region coded, it will be NTSC if you buy from USA.

in order to get it region free
option 1: there are some patches like WiigionFree (an open source Java application) that changes the region of Wii ISO files -- but it doesn't work with all games.

A better option is the homebrew channel which is more dependable and popular. It lets you region unlock Wii and play backup games. It also supports DVD playback by supplying the library files for DVD compatibility.

option 2: You would need to either softmod or chip your Wii.

Once this is done, installing the Homebrew Channel and then running either GeckoOS 1.7b or Backup Launcher Gamma will let you play region-free games

mod/chip your Wii is illegal and can prevent you from playing some games such as SSBB.

Hope this helps

PS: I haven't tried doing mod/chip, but i found this information after researching online.

While I was at HK, I was advised to visit the Macau Special Administrative Region to buy stuff. You don't need a visa and it's about an hour by train. 42 km if I remember.

Camera Lens Price Reference List

[WTS]PANASONIC,CANON,NIKON,LEICA,SONY,OLYMPUS,etc.

Both HK and M'sia treat cameras as duty free items. Presently, high end dslr prices are better in KL.

Re: Best place to buy electronic stuff abroad?

Add LED televisions to the list- It is way cheaper in KL than in india. Buy from either Hanifah Mall(Masjid India) or from Sunway Pyramid- they have the cheapest prices. For other electronics goods, there is always Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang( attractive deals in DSLRs)
