This one costs me 7000. The A560 costs 8000. Grey prices.
Moreover, this is a 7.1 MP which is more than enough for a beginner like me.

Its around 500$ on bhphotovideo. Not sure of Indian prices. What is your budget like and what are you looking for a 12-24 or a 17-X type lens?

Bro' am looking at the 24mm f/2.8D types. Well since budget is a constraint for me now I can go with anything (14/20/24/28/35).
Even 2nd hand lens would do.

Have been checking a few websites for 2nd one's and nothings available :( .

MP doesn't matter much unless you want to make really big prints. Why I would suggest IS is that under low light conditions, its very handy. If you have seen any amateur's pictures in low light condition, 30-40% would be shaky. With IS you wont have this problem. Even if you have to compensate on a 1-2 MP and get IS, I'd say go for it.

too. MP is more for selling the camera ( feature-set looks great with higher the MP) but in real time situation you would need ISO and image stabalization features even if it means sacrificing a bit on MP part.

Don't buy a panasonic lumix series. Horrible noise performance.

i am not a great photographer but yes I love shooting.....pics.
earlier i had a film camera of pentax (forgot the model).I was not at all satisfied by its results...then came the digis..i did a little research...i kept a budget range of 10k t0 15k. Available model in this range were Nikkon, canon, sony, casio, kodak, fiji.when you compare features nikkon and sony stood out almost parallel and was sleek look too with lethium batteries.Nikkon was ruled out finally because of price factor and also for the reason of lack of service facility, and above all ' made in china ' factor.
I settled down to sony DSC w-30 6MP, made in japan at about 11K.
100% satisfaction.

Here is the most detailed review on the best amature dSLR in the market, no it is not from Canon or Nikon. And I am not upgrading to it either.

wrotniak.net: Olympus E-510, a Technical Review

The review is way too long, feel free to jump from Introduction to the conclusions.

This is my new Toy. It’s a birthday present for me.

Shot with CanonPowershot SD600

It's a Canon EOS 400D (aka EOS Digital Rebel XTi) with a Canon EFS 18-55mm lens.

This is my first digital SLR camera and I am very impressed. I have quite a few point and shoot, most of them Canons. The 400D takes incredible photos even on the automatic setting. As for the quality of the construction, the 400D is extremely well-built.

The EOS 400D features:
• 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor
• Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System
• 2.5” LCD screen with 230K pixels and 160Ί viewing angle
• High-precision 9 point AF system
• Picture Style image processing parameters
• DIGIC II image processor with 0.2 sec start up
• Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software
• Compact and Lightweight body
• Fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites

What I like the most
• EOS Integrated Cleaning System
• 9-point AF system and Picture Style
• Supports all EF and EF-S lenses, EX Speedlites and EOS accessories.
• Price

Next in the list is a Tamron 18-250 or Sigma 18-200, still confued.

Some Test Images (Shot with the 400D)

Cheers!
