No, this is not normal. None of my cameras (I have 4) have this problem. Either water or some dust has seeped into your camera.

Thanks Samurai. Of course, I know it's not normal, my DSLR doesn't exhibit such character. Hence, the repeating the question & trying to figure out possible reasons

This will happen if you shoot in foggy/rainy weather and especially in low light. Assuming lens is fogged or coated with fine water droplets. Happens when camera is pulled out from it's case and used immediately

Thanks Rudra Sir. This picture was taken on dussehra evening. Was taken out of the case, clicked, the pox appeared. At first I thought it's the external screen. Anyways, I still cleaned the lense, clicked again. This time, more pox. Then changed mode to night potrait, fireworks, and the pox disappears on some while stays on some. It's important to note that if the object is a close object and the range of the flash light covers the object, then the pox is not visibile. However, on objects at infinity, the pox is there. This can happen even after 15-20 minutes of the camera being taken out of the case. For day light shooting, haven't come across this situation, so like it's mentioned, to be a case of low light shooting, again, just my camera or others too?

Pictures attached for reference. At a wide aperture, the pox is there, while at a narrow aperture, there's no pox.








Also, wanted to check if it's possible to clean the shutter of a P&S like in that of a DSLR. I think it's more or less moisture. However, Would be taking it to the canon service camp on the 16th.

I just got my 12-60mm lens. The auto-focus on this lens, when coupled with E3, is touted as the fastest in the world. So I tried focusing on a few objects, it was instantaneous, it didn't care about light. Even dark corners were AFed faster than the blink of an eye. Just outstanding AF.

I think most of you are not familiar with Olympus lenses, therefore see what DPReview had to say about this lens, despite their wellknown bias against Olympus.

congratulations on the new lens - hope you are happier with it than the 18-200. Nikon did make some 18-200 lemons, perhaps you got a bad piece. BTW, just curious, did you try that shot with the correct settings? Im wondering if you were still unhappy with the results?

From Amazon.com, I paid about US$788 I think, it is already couple of months since I bought, it came to India only this week.

I did, still unhappy. Got a few shots with the 50mm which were sharp and nice, but now I need to wait for that shot all over again.

just noticed this photo on this thread , Whats the settings apart from shutter speed and a shaky hand to an extent, that's used to capture night lights in this form?

ISO,Aperture,shutter speed.. is there a difference in settings again when it comes to capturing moving lights or stationary lights.I'm always confused with the balance between ISO and aperture settings.

PS: Just bought myself a FZ18 and its my first camera with manual options. It aint a DSLR but its got what I'd like to start off with learning.

There is a Nikon F65D kit for sale. Which includes the following:

1) Nikon F65 D body
2) 28-80 Nikkor lens
3) 70-300 Nikkor telephoto lens
4) UV & Polaroid filters for both the lenses

All the above for 8.5K negotiable. Its a five year old set. The owner claims to have used it for 60 - 70 rolls in total.

Though I am not interested in the SLR, I would like to buy a used DSLR(I think I should buy Nikon only)

So is it worth buying the above set and which Nikon DSLR(used) should I look at. Note that I am just a beginner in Photography. I have been using a Fuji S5100 for some time.

I have not fixed my budget(I am a bit tight on budget). What model Nikon(body only) I should look for and how much?

Also, how much can I get for my Fuji S5100. It was bought in May 2005 for $320 and the last image reads as DSCF6532. It was bundled with a 16MB XD card but bought a 256MB XD card(they were a bit expensive back then - $60 for 256MB). Also bought a camera bag (paid $15). We got an 55mm adapter ring along with the camera, which according to the manual can be used to fix converters.

PS: I would like to keep this one (if bought) for around a year or so and later upgrade.

Thanks to the 10x optical zoom it offers i could take the pic. The image has been cropped to show only the Moon. The pic was taken with out a Tripod with the support of railing.

Seems to be a super duper deal (or the owner doesnt know the value of the items)
