I have a budget of 10k, I'm not altogether new to photography but not a professional either. I'm planning to go in for a new camera, i don't want a simple digital, i'd like something with somewhat slr capabilities. Can anyone recommend a camera?
How's fujifilm as a company? anyone using one ?

Hey sukrit. for 10K if you want SLR capabilities then go for a Film SLR

But if, by SLR, you meant manual capabilities with good overall package, I think Canon A590IS is the best option...

Canon SX10 In Australia or India

Need advice guys.I am travelling to Australia in first week of march and intend to purchase a Canon SX10 IS in Melbourne at digital camera warehouse. Its available there for AUD 535,including 10% GST (which can be refunded at the airport). Is this a good deal? For how much is it available in grey market in India.Since they are only providing australian warranty, hence it would be as good as grey market.Only thing is it would be genuine, and comparatively cheaper. Also they wont provide any Memory card, charger or bag.Should I take this from here,or buy it from there? What card should I buy,I have zeroed on SAndisk extreme III 2 GB,and one SD 2 GB.The charger which I take from here, will it fit in sockets in Australia??
Phew lots of queries, plz try to help guys.

u can buy it from Australia. even if the warranty is not valid, you can atleast try for discount on repairs; if any; quoting some reasons for relocation...

If you take from grey market, you are on your own,

However my experience says there is no problem with digicams in 99.9% of the cases

Hey guys!

I have been out of touch with normal P&S cameras of late and need some advice from you guys! I am looking for a compact P&S to complement my Pentax K200D DSLR.
What I want from the camera:

Size: I want to be able to carry it around everywhere I go. Not possible with the Pentax and I hate cellphone cameras.

Control: Accustomed to a DSLR, I would want as much manual control as possible.

Zoom: I don't need much. Anything till 3X would do for me.

Image Quality: Low Light image quality needs to be good. Therefore, good high ISO performance. I hate flashes.

Video: Not much of a video person but why not!

Usage: Should be immune to rough handling. Will need it only for random pictures, party pics, nice unexpected cars!

Budget: I am in UK right now. Anything around 100 pounds!

More: No Sony/Olympus as I don't want to move to a proprietary memory platform. I already have couple of SD cards and AA cells lying around. So any camera which uses these will be preferred!

Hope to get some good advice!

Cheers!

If you could up your budget consider the Panny LX3. Outside of that I dont know of a camera under 200 pounds that offers you even apature and shutter control leave alone full manual.

Either the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS or Nikon S52 should be decent for that price.

I wouldn't go for a samsung. Nikon S550 doesn't have Optical Image Stabilization, it would be best to go for a camera that has OIS.
