Ya Tanveer, You are right I was busy looking at the second picture .. lol .
I knew you are a canon guy

Do you think 3 point AF, no DOF preview and AF supported only in AF-S lenses is a real -ve in D40. I think price range of 23-25K is quite good.

Has anyone here heard of this brand called 'Sigma' (if its an esoteric one, forgive me for I know not). There's an SD14 offer from this manufacturer here - looks rather nice and impressive.

So it is out finally, the SD14 was announced long back. It uses the Sigma mount obviously, so your Nikon lenses won't work. They use a very revolutionary sensor called Foveon X3.

But, Sigma is well known for its inexpensive lenses. Therefore, they do have lots of lenses available for their DSLR family. This one is a pro dSLR with 14 MP sensor. Wait for some reviews before you consider it.

Mugen... fantastic cam. I am myself planning to buy the same cam. Image quality as I have seen is fabulous. Still, post some images.

Btw... could you tell us whom did you buy it from?

Sigma and Fuji are two SLR families which use real revolutionary sensors, which can really make digital photos look like film, with true warm colors.
The new Fuji can even give the Velvia(that old fuji wow film) effect, and has a Nikon mount.
If you have a family of Nikon lenses, and want to upgrade, take the Fuji over D200. Its a much better cam(except for speed, only 1.5fps)

Sigma has made a few SLR (both Film and now Digital) but their forte is lenses. I have used a few Sigma lenses and find they hunt more than the Nikons I have used.

Sigma lens Pro:
Much cheaper than similar Nikon lens (not sure about Canon)
Some lenses that Nikon does not have

Cons:
Sample to Sample variance - you can cut this by sending them back for calibration (some have front focus like the 301.4 DC i tried).
Hunting - atleast in my expereince
A touch softer than similarly specs Nikons esp wide open.

Sigma lists quite a few Pro who use their glass but i assume these guys get properly calibrated glass for their endorsements.

I dont think SIGMA SD14 has satisfied the hype. What everyone is saying is that it is a good sensor in a poor camera. You can check some photography forums, lot of discussions going on this... Ofcourse, there are some who have taken amazing photos... check this one Carl Rytterfalk Fotografi He has brilliant images from SD14. But these are people who can take amazing images from basic canon p&s... !!
