Hello Guys, I am in the process of buying my first real digital camera, I have only used film cameras till now, although I am no expert in fotography, still I do understand the basic terms and usage of cameras. I have shortlisted Canon S5 IS/ Canon A 640/ Fuji S5700. My budget will be approximately 15K. I have no favorite brands, although I have a little bent towards Canon S5 IS.

Please advise me on the most appropraite model for me, I will be using the cam mostly for casual photography although I plan to graduate to better things within a few years.

I live in Gurgaon, if you could also advise me on the place to buy and the approximate cost that would be great. I have no qualms about buying them withour B&W.

The S5IS seems to be the best deal of the lot(overall package) however for most vibrant colors and the best sensor, the Fuji is the best. Handhold both and then buy. Chandni chowk is the best place to buy without Bill and Warranty. Try Pritam cameras

You may also try Palika Bazar, there are many shops there. I had bought my dSLR from Pritam but later found out that Palika shops (I buy from Digital Cam Zone) are a bit cheaper.

Digicam in 7-9K range?

Hi guys,

I am looking for a basic point & shoot digicam for my dad. His only requirement is that it should be small enough to carry in his shirt pocket. Budget is around Rs. 7K-9K.

I think a 5-6 megapixel model with the standard 3x optical zoom will meet his need quite well.

Can someone please suggest what models I should check out.

Personally, I have always used Sony, but would like to look at other options and avoid the expensive MemoryStick cards.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Regards,
Cypher

Actually I don't go around saying Olympus is the greatest. But at the same time, I don't let somebody tell me Olympus is crap. That's where the problem starts.

Samurai, I think it's a vital point you need to address.

Otherwise in a week down the line we'll see this battle starting all over again.

Let me answer with my wallet, I just ordered the E-3 on Amazon. I am done with my research.

I also ordered SanDisk 4 GB Extreme IV instead of 8GB extreme III as I decided before. This was the reason: Buying Guide: Memory Cards, digital cameras, digital photography, photography, digital slr, camera recommendation, price comparison, photographic companies, camera companies, digital camera best prices,

Yes and great and congratulation in advance!

But you've ordered Olympus again. So better be ready to be the Last of the Mohicans.

Congrats Samurai. Did you also order the 12-60 lens?

Wishing you to put even more brilliant pictures on this site. So, what are your plans with E-500? Use it as backup?
