Buying an EOS 40D either today or tomorrow. Was quoted 43.5 by photo circle. Good price?

Yup... its in grey but obviously a proper shrink wrapped box. The one with bill and warranty is around 58.5k though prices might go down at the end of the month. I don't think its worth the premium.

Thats a great price!! How much did R.K quote ? If you did enquire.

One more Q, How much would be the 450D when its available in Bangalore, Now 400D is 30k i guess, & 40D is 43 k , and 899 $ for 450D in the US wit lens. so it might be 36k here as well?

Remember that CCDs are not as sensitive to light as film. CDDs prefer light hitting them at right angles (perpendicular). Hence most camera manufacturers have introduced newer lenses for their DSLRs (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olyumpus, etc..). Nikon's AF-S and Canon EF-S lenses fit into this category.

Now using a non AFS or EFS lens with a compatible DLSR wont produce a bad image. Some even argure that there will less barrel/pincushion distortion and softness with "regular" lenses is less on APS-C sized sensors since only the center portion of the lens is used.

I got mine for 45K (from RK) so your price is better.

RK quoted 45k and would not go down one bit. I'm more comfortable dealing with photo circle as well as I know Jayesh pretty well. Have bought quite a bit of stuff from him.

Recently I purchased a Canon SD 870 IS (got it through a friend from US) for $300. So far I've used only the auto mode and it's shooting pretty good.

It would never be the same price as US pricing. But, then again maybe for Grey, perhaps yes, it would be.

I'm biased towards Nikon and would recommend the Coolpix P5000, P5100, P50, P60 if you are looking for compact Point-n-shoot. They also have different modes of shooting and give some limited control on film speed, shutter, aperture priority, portait/landscape modes.

I seem to suddenly face an issue with downloading the pictures from my D40X to my laptop. yesterday, when i tried downloading it, the laptop does not seem to recognize the camera at all. I downloaded it several times before and have not modified or deleted the software that came with the camera.

What could be the problem?

I thought of downloading the pictures via. my card reader but, i seem to have mis-placed that at home

Reinstall the software? Maybe you might want to remove the device from device manager as well and let it redetect..

Got my 40D, an extra BP511 battery and scratch guards for both screens. Damage - 47k. The low light autofocus performance of this camera is absolutely insane.
