Cd player /Amp for Dyn Audience 52SE

Hi guys,

Am shopping for a home audio set up.. 2 channel only

After soem auditioning in a city where home audio outlets dont seem to exist---

I have almost settled on a pair of Dynaudio Audoence 52 Se bookshelves. Now therese beauties run on a 4 ohm impedence and need solid amount of juice to deliver the goods.. heard them through different amps like Cayin tube interated, Rotel Pre power, McCormack ... but these are sooooo expensive..

I need recommendations for a good amp and CD player to dirve these beauties.. Budget.. in teh same range as the speakers... so no 6 figure recommendations please... Music I hear.. Jazz vocals..soem classial and rock....

Awesome choice of speakers but the focus for a wee bit more is a better speaker. Are you open to pre owned amplifiers? There's someone selling an awesome Audio Analogue Maestro amp for under 75k. Its a super amp.

Audio Analogue Integrated Amplifier Maestro [English]

If you are looking for a brand new amp, then the Arcam Diva A90 and Primare i21 should be in your budget. There might be an entry level integrated from Bryston and Musical Fidelity too in your budget.

The best match for those dynaudios would probably be a Plinius 9100. I'm not sure how much it retails for in India though. I do know that the 9200 sells at an obscene 2lac odd :(.

How much do you intend to spend on the CD player? I'd say get one of those chinese dacs imported and use a mid range DVD player to go with it. Most of these DACs kill anything thats there to offer under 1lac in India. Some good ones are the DAC AH, Citypulse DA7.2x, Lite DAC60 etc.

I personally use the Citypulse with a computer transport. I had a Bel Canto DAC2 (rather well accomplished) for a while and frankly the 400$ citypulse was much much better than the Bel Canto which costed triple.

you are being totally wicked..and no... im not gettign the focus... . event the Audience have stretchhhhhhhed my original budget.... so.. no way...

ROCC.. the Audio analogue though tempting is HUGGE..100lbs + in weight.. Is very impractical for my tiny listenign area... but it is gorgeous.. plus i want to avoid electronics without B&W....
BRYSTON etc the problem is that there are no dealers in Delhi available who can provide demos... but ill certainly explore the option... Amongst the other brands I could get would be Creek, Rotel , Arcam ( also is a good option )...I will be hearing Creek over the weekend in Kolkata... lets see.. but then the important thign would be to hear them with the speakers I have shortlisted... the whole problem ..

Amongst teh CD players I have shortlisted are:
Marantz SA 8001 SACD player
Creek Classic/Destiny
Rotel RCD 1072
Music Hall CDp25.2 ( sounded nice but the chinese build quality was quite clunky)..so is almsot out of the reckoning...

The creeks are good amps or so I've heard from folks. Never managed to audition them myself. Amongst the CD players... audition all of them in your setup and then decide which gels the best. Beyond a certain point in audio, its all about getting the match right.

Hi Guys,

Finally bought a dynaudio Focus 140 bookshelves...

My amplification options would be:

krell 400xi
Rotel Pre power ombo
Plinius 9100

..I am looking for a high curent amp with a decent amount of power to take the 4 ohm load of the Dyns.. Any recommendations would be great...

Im in a fix on teh cdplayer though.. My options would be:

Creek Destiny/Classic
Marantz SA8001 SACD
Jolida Tube
Rotel RC-1072
Rega Apollo

Would love your thoughts on what would be apt... Aprt from the creek destiny whioch is a tad more expensive all teh others are in teh same price range...It would be difficult to listen to most of them sicen they are not avilable for demo in delhi so would be buying based on reviews......

How much did it all cost you ?

And what are the prices of those CD players ? coz I am also looking for a high quality CD player to match my bookshelves. Nothing in your league, but we have a Norge 2060 and Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s

Budget CDp you could look at are:

Marantz 6001 or 5001 are nice and reasonable and good VFm.. ( i thnk 10-15K )
Music hall CDp 25.2 ( very nice for the money ) -25K
Cambridge 640C ( i think 15-20K )

am not veery good at model numbers and prces...so you could double check them

nikhil get the cambridge audio 340c for 13k , might be less. ask chaos to take you to the dealer. the marantz 5001 is $4it , the 6001 may be better but havent listened to it yet

Yeah... dont even think about the CD5001. Its complete rubbish. The best bang for the buck at the low end are the cambridge audio players.

i did listen to a 6001 . Its not bad at all for a budget component. its quite reasonably priced. Marantz equipment in india i was surprised to find are cheaper than Dollar value MRP's. So could be a good buy... plus some good discounts can be had if one has the bargainign skills ( ....which i dont )

Yea most reports of the 6001 are very positive. Now that you say so I guess it probably is quite decent. The 5001 was quite sad.

Had my cousin pick up the Marantz 6002 to replace his trusty old 63.
He's pretty happy.

Saurabh, what amp are you using to power your speakers currently?
