I already posted a link to the site but anyway here it is again...

Eh... that denon is a rip off. One can get a Squeezebox 3 and an Audioengine A5 for much less than that. Both of those are the best in the business. Why buy this ultra overpriced denon.

I meant "Wow, thats expensive!". Anyway, they're pretty ok sounding but better than tiny multimedia cubes masquerading as speakers.

Thanks for the reality check

How much are they about, normally?

I have 3 ipod portable speakers. the old Bose, the go + play, and the apple hifi.

The old bose sounddock is not as good for bass as the hi fi or the go+play. out of the 3 I have, the go+play was the best all-rounder. nice looker too.

but check the reviews on the net for the best. The new Bose sounddock (priced at 25k vs the old one at 18k) figures quite high on the reviews today.

They retail for 349$+shipping abroad. Considering the lame import duty and VAT on speakers, I'd say they are not priced badly. They sound better than any other powered speaker in the 20k range.

Hmm, I have a pair that I got at a vastly different price. Hence the aversion to quoted retail prices I guess. You're right otherwise.

they sound fine but they are not portable. I think the thread starter wanted boom box style portability.
