Amar Bose in US Inventors Hall of Fame

Amar Bose in US Inventors Hall of Fame

Quote:
Amar Bose last month joined the ranks of Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Alva Edison, after the National Inventors Hall of Fame announced his name as one of the seven living 2008 inductees.
Dr Bose, a former MIT professor of electrical engineering who has revolutionized the quality and concept of stereo loudspeakers, is only the second Indian American after Dr Rangaswamy Srinivasan, whose invention of ultraviolet surgical and dental procedures resulted in what is known today as LASIK surgery, to be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame Foundation has honoured 371 inventors till 2007, including many posthumously, in recognition of their technological advances and contributions that make human, social and economic progress possible.
Hahahaa..... Waiting for ROC to read this and the other Bose-haters :

Whats wrong with that?

Its not everyday that someone can invent an ordinary product, spin a splendid story and create a multi billion dollar business. Hats off to him, I say. Please note the use of "him", not the brand or product.

My feelings exactly. And being an Indian by origin doesn't exactly help.

Hats off to him!

I wonder if the Government would be thinking on giving Bose the Bharat Ratna (posthumously) or something.. Would be typical of our folks to take credit for anything remotely sounding Indian (well in this case is Indian).

Anyway 3 cheers cheers: for the Bose Legacy on behalf of all the Audiophiles of the world.

Out of topic but !!
"Has he passed on", is not the same as "has he passed away".

passed away = expired , lose life
passed on = handed over , give etc..

Well for the true Audiophile Bose is not good enough. But for a lot of others its a lifestyle aspiration.

"Wow, you got a Bose at home man.... Cool !! "

Kudos to Bose for making that happen !!!

Good for him. I am not at all a fan of Bose products. As an "inventor" I would credit him and his company for their "lo-fi" audio systems, if "fi" really means "fidelity", aka faithfulness.

Was first to bring the sense of live music to rooms. His Auditioner is used by builders to find how his BOSE speakers will sound even before anything is built.
Acoustimass brought big sound in tiny speakers. Also provides a no nonsense easy small size integrated home theatre systems.

Not that bad.

So bose products are not really good, huh? They sure cost a lot of money, though.
