While this is the easiest option, it will come under the definition of 'hawala' and hence should not feature in a site like team-bhp.

I am not sure how this transaction can be termed as "hawala", in this use-case. You are legally transferring the funds to the recipient's account or giving them cash in INR, which is deemed as a white transaction. If both parties are mutually agreed on this system, don't see any hassles involved. I have personally done this multiple times when I asked my cousins to get us stuff from the US and they were rather happy to not have to bother about the hassle of conversion of dollars etc. when they arrive in Mumbai.

Not all FEMA violations are caught or prosecuted. Does not make it legal though.

Moreover, the reason I’m still using this phone is due to its sheer compact size which is a rarity today. It’s a pleasure to the 7 !
iPhone 6 & 6S are different. IP6 supports only till iOS 12.XX whereas 6S and models beyond support iOS15. Means, we folks on IP 6S & 7 will be able to use the phone for at least next such axing which should be at least a couple of years from now.

Unfortunately, WhatsApp just stops working when support is withdrawn and it will ask you to update to start using it again. And of course, one cannot update due to the iOS version.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Sold Dad's 13 and got him the 16. Transfer process was seamless.

The Aquamarine looked quite sexy, but he wanted to stick with the conservative Matte Black.

Do tell the selling price for 13 and buying price for 16.

Sold the 13 (128 GB) via Cashify for 26k. Got the 16 (256 GB) through a special employee offer for 75k (I work with a leading company that also has a large retail footprint.)

Updated to iOS 18.2 on my iPhone 14. one good thing I noticed since the last iOS 18 update is that the battery health has been holding at steady 89% 404 cycles!

Apple Intelligence was released back when 18.0 was announced in September and I'm using it for a couple of months on my iPhone 15 Promax.

18.2 just adds the real deal with bunch of new and exciting features of Apple Intelligence. I'm looking forward to updating tonight.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I have been using Apple Intelligence (AI) from last 2 months and find it quite useful especially for 2 things :

1. When I write something, AI has so many different versions to improvise your notes/paragraphs that it's quite unreal and it's accurate too as the concept is never changed and focus. is more on tone.

2. Notification Summary- I have customized it to receive top priority only and tail end will be the not so important ones.

Updated to 18.2 which has loads of Apple Intelligence features (which I will be exploring in next few weeks) but, best is the OPEN AI CHATGPT integration right in the phone settings.

I tried a quick sample yesterday night. "I had rented a muscle car for an upcoming trip so that was in my mind".

I just said- "Cars" then "Muscle Car" and followed up with "Artistic" and I got these 2 pictures.

Seems like fun features to explore and try to use them in our regular lives.

Cheers to Apple

Re: The iPhone Thread

Updated to iOS 18.2 yesterday night. Battery on both phones holding well as of now, no issues after the update. Not a big fan of AI, so may explore in due course. Any other features to be explored?

"Image Playground" is supposedly the new AI image generator where you can describe the type of image and the situation and it generates the image. You can use any image from the camera as well.
Well, I didnt look anything like the image that it generated and doesn't create the situation/scene that well. Lot more to be improved.

You can search with ChatGPT now.

There's a lot of AI features in "Notes", "Mail" etc but I generally don't use it.

Apple AI is sort of half baked. Ideally I think they planned this for iPhone 17 but since other manufacturers released it, they were kind of forced to launch this. Anyways, rumors say that Siri in iOS 19 is being developed from scratch. Let's see.

How does AI integration into Mail app work? Can you say "Siri, find and delete all emails with attachments > 1 MB"?

Unless I'm missing something, the rest of features seem to be same as downloading ChatGPT app from Appstore/Playstore on any phone.

I have just enabled the "Summarize" feature where it summarizes the entire email thread and gives a summary. Also, it prioritizes any mail with a deadline, meeting or payment as per the due date.

Another feature that I have seen is the "Writing tool" that proof reads the mail content and we can rewrite it in different styles (professional, friendly etc). Haven't really tried anything else. Since this is available on the Mac, I tend to explore these on the Mac than the phone.
