Interesting. Are corporations (not yours, but in general) really OK with AI reading & summarizing official communication between employees?

Not sure how they can stop this since it's available across all writing tools in Apple devices.

Here's how I converted your text into a supposedly "professional" touch as per Apple AI writing tool.

Is the feature wherein we can delete any unnecessary objects from a picture available in the older iPhones, like the 12 series? I’m sorry, I cannot recollect the name of that feature.

Aside, anyone has update their older iPhones like 11 or 12 series? How’s the update holding up? How’s the battery drain?

That's the Clean Up feature, which is available next to the Crop option, available at the bottom panel when you open a photo in the Photos app.

Going by the hardware requirements for Apple Intelligence, I think a lot of it happens on device so your data never leaves your care. It falls back on accessing larger models hosted in Apple’s “private cloud” for more complex tasks (possibly ChatGPT too, if you enable/allow it).

For enterprise customers, I think Apple will enable them to restrict usage to on device or their own private cloud models across all company devices.

As for companies being OK with their employees using AI? A lot depends on the industry they operate in.

I cannot see this feature in my iPhone 12 Pro running on 18.1.1.

Sorry, but is this an Apple Intelligence specific feature limited to only 15 Pro above, or an iOS 18.2 specific feature, irrespective of the iPhone model?

Hi, yes Apple Intelligence features are only available on 15 pro and above. That's why you're not seeing them in 12 Pro.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Apple Intelligence- My Thoughts

I have been lightly dabbling in Apple Intelligence since it was launched. Here are some of the key features and what I think of 'em.

1. Writing Tools- This is very helpful and fairly accurate and has many sentiments to choose. Like friendly, professional, concise etc. It changes the original text quite nicely. Proof reading is superb and it can also rewrite from the scratch. Very useful for us as we use the phones for a lot of text and writing.

2. Summary Notifications- We get tonnes of notifications and to summarize them and prioritize them is super helpful. I love it !

3. ChatGPT Integration- We all know what it is. But, now integrated tightly into Apple with privacy thrown in is super cool.

4. Image Playground- This is such a fun thing. I have been using it last couple of days and it has tonnes of options to customize your image which can be used as display picture or emoji. I would peg the accuracy levels to about 70% which in my opinion is an achievement. Here is an example of me as a

"Race Driver"

Hiker

Corp Guy

The canvas to unleash your creativity.

5. Genmoji- Well, you can now literally create an emoji by describing as text or use an image. That's cool for all the heavy WhatsApp or Text users.

6. Visual Integllience- A.K.A Google Lens. But, being Apple they will definitely do it lot better. I feel like upgrading to an iPhone 16 Promax just for this feature.

I feel there are so many things that can be improved and also feel it's been released in a rush to cash in on the AI Wave. But, give it a year and as usual Apple will set some benchmarks for the "In-App" AI features (despite being late to the game).

Cheers to Apple Intelligence !!!

I have my savings account with icici, so not sure if i have any option to transfer money internationally. The last option is to convert INR to USD locally and then hand it over to her in person when she comes to india, but that also means additional forex charges which is a bit of an added expense. Any inputs would be welcome, thanks.
Transfer money directly from your ICICI Bank account using Money2World. It will just take 5 minutes and it is hassle free. Charges will be around 3-4k max including everything. Worth it. I used the same to buy an iPhone from Hong Kong.

Re: The iPhone Thread

My 14 Pro Max Lightning port is playing up and charging intermittently. Have tried with multiple cables and I suspect there is dust/dirt ingrained inside.

Any tips on how best to clean it without any damage?

A soft bristled toothbrush, or if you have a hair trimmer, the little blade cleaner brush that comes with it.

Safe and efficient.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Hi Experts,
Just a week ago I moved to iPhone after using android till now. I had Google One backup account of 100gb while on android phone, which has expired recently. While it's still due for renewal, I want to take this opportunity to check which among the big 3 - iCloud+ or Google One or MS OneDrive - is better for backing up iphone. I mainly need to backup my photos, videos and let's say 1 folder containing documents. WhatsApp is not critical for me. Even if I lose entire WhatsApp data, it's OK. Most of it is junk anyways. Is there anything else that's critical that needs to backed up?

I'm inclined towards using Google One, as I can share it with my wife who is using android. But not sure if it causes any compatibility issue with iPhone. Saying this because, though what gets backed up are the backend photo and video files, but since I am using iPhone's native Photos app, will it behave perfectly in sync with Google One backup process? Or if I select Google One, should I start using Google's photos app on iPhone?

Kindly provide your recommendation, if possible with pros and cons. Thanks in advance.

And sorry if it has been asked before.

Apple Cloud works only on iphones and that can be problem if you shift to an Android phone in the future. I found Google Drive has syncing problems sometimes. Onedrive works everytime.

And the Rs. 500 per month 1 TB plan comes with free MS Office too, which can be installed on iOS/Android/windows devices.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/micr...onedrive-plans

So you can work on a DOC or XLS or PPT file on a Windows laptop, and continue modifying it on your iphone. And give it finishing touches on your Android/iOS tablet.

.
If you install Google photos, it will automatically start backing up photos from your iphone's camera album once backup is enabled. No need to worry. It is the same as any Android device.

That is the beauty of Google apps. Unlike Icloud which cannot be accessed from an Android device (without a browser) Google drive, docs etc work seamlessly on iphone.

As far as documents are concerned, I save it explicitly on Google drive from my iphone when needed.

Not at all an expert, but I have been using iCloud for last few years for 500GB data, after I lost my iPhone (became dead) and lost tons of data which contained priceless memories being created over years. Then took this iCloud plan. If in future you would join Apple eco system across different gadgets, it is just breeze to access all your stuff anywhere. So it’s easy and very very helpful. Personally I can vouch for it. Also if you take 500GB plan or more, it can be shared with your friends/family members. So that’s also a positive.

No, that’s not true, one can access iCloud from anywhere be it android or web, all one has to do access iCloud.com and login with your Apple ID and password. One can access all his data anywhere. Or am I interpreting something else ?
