Where? I'd love to make the hand over and move on to something else. I love the interface, but the iPhone 2G kinda let me down with too many issues. You said the 3GS is super fast, is that in terms of the internet or data transfer related to the network or processing speed in relation to the OS and programs (like my SMS take more that 12 secs to open up.. like a cold starting engine. LOL) camera takes 8. so does the others.
Phone 16G 2G running on 3.0 - any hope in fixing the problem? other than the 3GS upgrade :-)

johnda try a complete re-install and try setting up as a new phone, will release couple of bhp's for sometime. But yes upgrading is the best option coz the processing power has tremendously increased and with it the speed, yes that includes all the things you mentioned.

Meanwhile scarcity of 3GS is speculated as the reason why India launch is still under cover.

Since I did a Jailbreak I have the custom restore .ipsw file will that do? or is there another process? coz when I upgraded to 3.0 I thought a lot of my issues were dealt with but 2 weeks later its the same SONG!

Jailbreak this is the problem that i cant over rule 2weeks or 2 months depends on the apps that run esp those which run from cydia, yes cutom ipsw is fine for restore.

Today I gave a try to upgrade my 2G iphone with OS 3.0.1 with redsn0w on vista. It stuck at "waiting for reboot" and not moving ahead. Did some trick like unplugged and plugged etc with no luck. Its not allowing me to go to OS 3.0. Can some help. I am stuck.

whats on the screen now. itunes connect logo. ???

Just go to recovery mode and install original ipsw (firmware) through itunes. Do not, i am saying again Do not upgrade online. chose the firmware of your choice by clicking shift.

Going good
Iphone is not booting, so its blank screen. I tried restore with shift to OS 3.0 but it says not compatible. And only OS 3.0.1 is allowing to restore.

Seems like my earlier version of OS 3.0 was corrupted. So downloaded again and put phone on recovery mode and did jailbreak after that. Seems like OS 3.0.1 still has some issue. though they have give some tricks but none worked for me, so I am happy with OS 3.0 for time being.

Had been to apple store in Forum mall and the guy said 3GS will be coming out in September.

Crap! Someone is coming down from US in september 20. I need to give him atleast a 2 week notice to buy it. Should i wait or get one from there?

The iPhone 3G S which is being launched on September 19, is however coming out with an horrendous price tag of Rs. 36000 for a 16GB iPhone 3G S and something around Rs 40,000 for the 32 GB version. Also there are some speculations going on that the older version of the iPhone 16GB might be discontinued.

Hmmm... 36k for 16GB 3GS should be okay - considering the same thing used to get sold for is 32k in HK. (Totally unlocked though) Personally 4k for warranty is good VFM!

That phone flies its the fastest phone I have seen (ZERO lag) & the camera is a killer! Video's it takes is just outstanding!
