Does iOS 5 make it easier to get to the 3G on/off switch? I often switch off 3G when I'm not surfing because it saves battery and also because Edge has fewer dropouts. But my pet peeve about the iPhone is how tiresome it is to click Settings, scroll down to General, click on Network and then toggle the switch. There must be a faster way to do this.

Why wait for iOS 5 for this functionality? You can add this functionality right away on your phone, if your phone is jail-broken of course. Go to cydia and download SB settings you will get this desired toggle switch for wi-fi, 3G/EDGE, Bluetooth etc. right on your home screen

Oh. One more reason to jailbreak then. I had jailbroken my last one but haven't got around to it on the present one because I didn't want to deal with the hassle that comes with every upgrade. I really wish there was some official way to do this.

There are absolutely no hassles with Jailbreak UNLESS your phone is locked to international carrier! All you have to do is wait for jailbreak for a updated iOS which will be released almost within few days (Thanks to DEV team that almost instantly they are releasing jailbreaks after iOS update nowadays) unlike UNLOCK for which you need to wait for months!

The key here is choosing and waiting for a tethered OR untethered Jailbreak. But IIRC once tethered jailbreak is released, untethered jailbreak for the same iOS wont take much time to release (may be matter of few days wait)

To sum up - if you are right now on iOS 4.3.3 with factory unlocked iphone 4 go ahead and jailbreak your phone with RedsnOw

EDIT: or jailbreak your phone accessing jailbreakme.com which was recently released up to iOS 4.3.3. All you need to do is run jailbreakme URL from your safari browser and rest is done automatically

All the best and hope this information helped you!

My iPhone 4 has arrived; can't wait to lay my hands on it.
Any idea if it pairs seamlessly with Fiat's Blue&Me?

That's great !! As for SMS reader, I do not find it a useful feature and moreover it didn't work with my Samsung Galaxy 3 as well so No Regrets !!

Will soon post my experience

Re: The iPhone Thread: Update iOS 5 announced!

hey, a lot of iphone pairers here!
Help me too.
I have an iphone 4 that pairs with a pioneer 3350BT just fine, but it doesnt sync with it.
I mean, so far i have seen it doesnt copy the Iphone's phonebook.
Does so for a samsung adnroid phone, but not for the Iphone.
Why would this be?

Hi there, I am about to buy an iphone from india for my dad who is above 60 years old. He wants a phone that has a flawless OS and one that he can read easily.

Now the question is considering the price should I go for the 3gs or the 4? I know all the feature differences. He will be using very few apps and will be mostly using it as a normal phone.

E
Q1. Will the 3gs get the ios 5 upgrade?

Q2. Is there any place in the world where I can get a 16 gb iphone factory unlocked for less than 30k?

PS - I am not interested in jailbreaking and stuff.

Yes 3GS will get the iOS5 upgrade.
Buy the phone from Airtel/Vodafone/Aircel, they sell unlocked ones.

1.yes, it wil get an upgrade
2.gaffar/airtel
3. Wont need to jailbreak/unlock.

As far as trusting these guys, i bought 2 Iphone 4s, and an x10 from them.
One Iphone was used, other one was boxed and packed.
both factroy unlocked, jailbreaking is buyers prerogative.
If you dont want it, you dont need it.
if you want it, he'll do it for you.

Checked both the phones with apple's support site, they are serviceable in india with airtel/aircel.chargeable, of course.

I have not had ANY isuues with all the phones ive bought from there.
And , as far as i ave seen in my visits, he exchanges it ,after checking of course, if you find something drasticallly wrong with it.
