@crazy driver welcome to the Apple community. Any particular reason you opted for iPhone 4S over latest iPhone 5S or 5C other than cost? I am not sure how often you change your phone but if you use 1 mobile phone for a long time (~3-4 years) then you must know iPhone 4S will become pretty much redundant after approximately 1.5 years from now, meaning apple will stop supporting on software updates for iPhone 4S. That's a pretty much standard practice apple follows that it gives maximum 4 year support post launch of a particular phone model. If you have only max. 1 - 1.5 years of usage in mind then it's a best buy else IMO it is not since after 1.5 years you have to live with an outdated iOS version - just a thought and enjoy your new world of iOS.

True. However, I have lost my appetite for new OS updates, changes, modifications etc. if the standard stuff works fine, it should do for now.

Main reason for not considering the 5c was the look and feel. Somehow it didn't feel like the iPhone I have seen over the years although the build quality seems good. And the 5s costs 22k more than the 4s. That's a lot of money! And even 5s will end up outdated 1 year down the line. 4s felt like the best gamble.

Could you tell me the price that you paid for your iPhone 4s. Purchasing iPhone 4 now doesnt makes sense. Isnt it?

Guys one more thing. Is there any 8gb variant of iPhone 4S?

Pretty much Yes and should cost you around 27K if i am right. Slashed prices of Iphone 4 for 8GB are around 22K.

I heard this commercial on FM Radio today, and I was stunned. The iPhone 4 came out in the mid 2010. They are still selling it, and they say 22K is a bargain price. This is truly nuts. Thank god for competition from Android and WinPhone.

Is there a way - maybe and app or the sort to mirror an iPhone to a head unit with MirrorLink?

Is this a direct offer from Apple? Because in Apple website the 4 is not listed anymore; its just the 4S (8GB), along with 5C and 5S.
Probably a case of stock clearance in markets where iPhone is considered as a status symbol. Even Rs.10K is too high for an obsolete model like the 4.

Though i agree that 22K is definitely over priced and the correct pricing would be around 15K which i mentioned in my previous post couple of days back, couple of points we also need to consider:

1. I bought my iPhone 4 16 GB during March 2011 from US. Until last month my almost 3 year old phone was selling at Rs.11000 in exchange of iPhone 4S/5/5C/5S. The guy at apple store told me that since i bought my phone from US they will be only able to offer me 11K, else indian phone would get me Rs.14000 as an exchange offer clap:

2. Secondly, though iPhone 4 is becoming obsolete in terms of sluggish performance running on iOS 7, it is still the fact that Apple is supporting this old phone with their latest operating system which also supports their latest iPhone 5S (unlike Samsung Android Phones).

That said, it is a very shrewd marketing strategy by apple that they want to sell as much iPhone 4 units as possible at higher pricing. Wait and watch in another approximately 6 months time just before iOS 8 is released, the price will come down drastically for new iPhone 4 and so will the resale value.

It's the last ditch effort by Apple by making some money from leftover stocks of iphone4 across globe before this model is called off and 4S is made the entry level model.

But why 22K? This was available on eBay and other sites for 20 K a few months back. These sellers had the stocks taken from Apple under exchange scheme which these sellers were giving at discount.

Apple had a price of around 25 K for iPhone 8gb and around 30 k for iPhone 16 gb

Not worth buying iPhone 4 now. Don't waste your hard earned money on it.

Apple trying to move into mobile payment system for physical goods - Wall Street Journal. Since it is successful in iTunes based payment system, this seems to be a logical forward step!

My iPhone4 is now almost 4 yrs old; and still loving it :) not sluggish at all even with iOS7 and still the best smartphone ever constructed - the feel of steel & glass is brilliant. Except for breaking the screen once when I ran my car over it, its never let me down.

I'd say for people with an old iPhone 4 ,it's great.
But,buying it now (unless it's for someone who's tech challenged) it's really a waste of money IMHO.

Totally agree with you. Also anyone buying an IPhone 4 now needs to be aware that Apple is likely to bring out the IOS 8 upgrade sometime in June/July and it may not support the 4.

I personally think purchasing iPhone 4S 8gb makes sense as the difference between iphone 4S 8gb and iphone 4 8gb is aroung 4-5k. By paying 4-5k more you get a dual core processor, 8mp cam etc.
