Is Apple again running some kind of offer for the battery replacement? Last time I checked, IP6s and IP7 batteries were costing around 7-8k at the Apple store. they were changing these for around 2000 Rs. a year back under the campaign that they were forced to start after admitting that new software versions, intentionally drain out older batteries faster. |
Well, back before that performance fiasco, batteries would cost $79, then that offer came up for $29 and then post that, I think they permanently reduced price to $49 I think. I know I am quoting US prices but you get the idea.
Also, back in July 2020, I asked the local apple reseller and he quoted me Rs. 2854 something for iPhone 6S Battery replacement.

Hi,
I have iPhone 7, which is almost 03 years old, looking for a battery upgrade. Apple service quoting 3500/-, and they need to order the battery which will take a couple of days and they are asking for one day for replacement, whereas a local guy is ready to replace with the "original " battery for 2200/-, which is readily available, time required is 15 minutes.
A bit confused.
Suggestions Please |
Go for original. I did a DIY with a battery in Amazon and that battery bulged in 2 months. With original Apple battery you will get their warranty as well.

Is there any measure of how much a new battery health should degrade?
Mine is at 98 % in just 40 days of replacement.
If at all there is any such yardstick, I can atleast check with their warranty claim which is valid for 90 days.
I need to copy the content and apps(like WhatsApp) on RN4(android) to an iPhone 11.
So, what's the best way to do this?
Please advise!

I bought the 2020 SE recently and the battery is at 99% after 2 months. I’m a moderate user charging my phone once in a day. Not sure but I don’t think apple will entertain warranty claims.

This looks so good and custom made! How did you get such a good fit and where did you order it from pl? :Cheering:
Did you use some tools to get this on and around the cable?
21st Dec I put electrical tape over the battered wire, and 25th Dec it has slowly slid down and again there is a possibility of the wires breaking so, was happy for a while but, again looking for a permanent solution.

Ditto. And they will not entertain warranty claims as long as their diagnostics software and the iOS system assesses the battery as "functioning normally".

The original Apple replacement battery in my IP7+ degrades at approx. 1% every 2 months, averaging at about 10% in 19 months. This is based on my charging and usage patterns. A new Apple battery has a 3 month warranty. There is no yard stick as such because usage patterns are totally based on the individual what applications the person runs and the charge/discharge cycles the battery goes through.

I have a box of heatshrink sleeves of different sizes.
Used one which slid through the lightning adapter end. And used the heat gun to shrink it. Repeat it once again for 2 sleeves.
Got some covers from Aliexpress for cheap.
850 bucks for 5 of them. And good quality too with protection for the lenses. The same covers retail here for over double the amount. Sigh I’m going to miss shopping from
Alibhai.

Similar covers are available in Flipkart for around 300-400 each that too with original apple packaging and logo. I am currently using them but the only issue is that these covers make the phone bulky and the bigger issue is its very cumbersome to slide them into the pocket, which otherwise is a slick job. I use this cover when I use the phone while working on the vehicle, or when travelling outstation.

Move to iOS app from play store would be a good place to start. Moving WhatsApp messages, it's not straightforward. You need third-party apps to do so. A quick google search gave this article on this subject. I remember somebody sharing their success story about this app on this thread. :thumbs up

I have actually given up on trying to move whatsapp data from android to Iphone or vice versa. Its an absolute pain and has always been. There are so many small points that you need to follow to get this done successfully.

Agreed. A few of them had posted on this thread their experiences of moving WhatsApp chats from Android to iOS and that they had paid for a certain app. But not much details. I was a bit sceptical of it and more so, I wasn’t very concerned of transferring the chats (most of them from junk anyway). For the really important ones which I felt I may have to refer to at some point later, I took a backup as a document (which WhatsApp permits you to) and sent them to my mail.
