Make sure you don't go anyway near the iOS4. My friend did and now he has to do with an "extremely" slow iPhone.

Airtel used to officially unlock them, but has stopped doing that if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, I plan to stick with 3.1.2.

They cant lock the imei unless i file a police FIR. Whichi have not done yet due to my busy schedule. Also i am not happy with the way the cops handle it as they want bribe for everything and no result.

Did they charge anything for it? I'm surprised to hear this.

I think its a Iphone 3G in question, which was unlocked after one year of usage. Same is with 3GS. Airtel unlocks after a year.

Hey I am going to singapore/Kuala Lampur for one week in two days. I wanted to buy myself an Iphone 4 there. What are the options I have as Apple retail does not sell it without online bookings. (Which takes around 3 weeks to process)

Apple stores in Singapore should be able to sell you an unlocked one. The one at the SIN airport definitely does.

Ordered iphone 4 today.

Will get the 16gb in 5 days. There is Apple Care for 2 years worth $70. Only additional thing covered is if phone breaks or is dropped into water, they will give a new one for $200 rather than $600 and an additional 1 year for normal warranty. Is it advisable to take?

There is no JB on 4.2

The next JB will come when 4.1 releases.

Right now my iPhone 3GS is left unused. It is an unlocked phone, was never locked in the first place. Last time I connected it to iTunes, it offered to upgrade it to 4.0.x version. I didn't bother because I didn't want it get locked by mistake, I mean who knows. I am not very familiar with the Apple hardware/software funda.

So, it is safe to upgrade it to 4.0.x?

Via Cydia save your files on your comp. This is a backup and let's you downgrade. Then only upgrade to 4.0.1.
