re: The iPhone Thread

A friend is going to USA tomorrow and coming back in a fortnight. Wants to know if he can get the Iphone5 from there and if it would work in India? Can it be unlocked and made to work in India or is it too early for him to take that risk?

I don't think they are launching unlocked iPhone 5s just yet. I checked Apple site & it doesn't show any option to pre-order an Unlocked phone.

I think it would be a while before they introduce the unlocked phones.

iOS 6 is just launched so I believe it would be a while before an unlock is made available.

My IP4s finished the download and is preparing the update. Should be ready in a few minutes after the mandatory reboot.

re: The iPhone Thread

I have upgraded it just now, accessibility to certain things is right in the settings. Like Bluetooth

Integrated facebook asks account in settings, but once we install it it doesn't pick the user id and password or am I missing something.

App updates are cool now, the progress is shown besides the list.

Wrong. The unlocked 4S started at 649.

And the unlocked versions for iPhone 5 are available from Apple site starting at 699.

The final 3 lines should provide the gist of it:
"This is without a doubt the best iPhone yet. This is a hallmark of design. This is the one you've been waiting for."

I wonder how much they got paid.
Cant be that much. Going by some posts here, it seems only Apple has the money to pay for such reports.

If he goes to Canada, he can buy it, provided you book it in advance. But then there is the nano sim you'll need to get from your service provider.

Not only is the unlocked version not available but the LTE will not work in India as it's not worldwide LTE in the US variants.

Information on this is still not clear and there are 3 variants of the iPhone 5 meant for different LTE bands.

Ofcourse 4G LTE is still not available in India except in bangalore and Kolkata.

Yeah. Can't find directions to any location, will explore more in the morning. 3D looks interesting, lots to play around.

Typing from IOS 6 . Looks like they have messed up the maps, I am not able to find direction to anywhere now. Apartfro that team-bhp looks more colorful. There is one more mail folder by name VIP. I am not able to find any other difference. Looks like this is more relevant to 4S users or iPhone 5 users with all those changes to siri etc , as a 4 user Iam not finding much of a difference.

On Iphone 4 here in Stockholm Iam able to use the maps and it now shows turn by turn and fun to use.

PM is replaced with a moon now against the clock
Keypad got a keypad look (white)
App store looks different
Calender view is cool
Music got a new look

I didn't find any difference in TBHP app though.

Yet to explore further
