So, decide whether to buy 64 GB model or a second hand car

Re: The iPhone Thread

Guys any idea if Apple honours warranty for cosmetic defects, or will they deny it. My I5 black has suddenly chipped on the side, and not just a scratch its a proper chip through which you can see metal. I have no clue how its happened, and my phone has never been dropped. Is it worth going to an Apple store or am I wasting my time?

Go when you have another problem, chances of being sent back home are high (Apple tends to reject cosmetic defect and blame it on the person, but that also depends on the person you meet)

Try taking your phone to a customer service centre and tell them that the home button feels loose and the battery dies in 3 hrs (thats what i did for a replacement).

They'll ask you whether you performed a reset?
Tell them that you have tried each and every thing mentioned on the Internet and all you need is some peace of mind after spending half a lakh rupees on a mobile phone.

It all depends on the representative there.

Mine had a really minor dent on the top, which was ignored by the representative.

Btw, please share some pictures of the chip off if possible. That would help.

I had a similar problem with my iPhone 5 (the on/off button was not responsive and had to be clicked several times to turn off the screen) and since it was in warranty period was replaced with a new handset immediately.

Mine is not even 'clicking' any more.
Trouble is this phone came from America so I guess I shall have to pop across to iRepair and get it fixed!

If you can get hold of a iPhone specific screw driver then you could open up the casing (refer YouTube) before going for a repair and check if the button has any minor issues. The button might have gone inside coz of pressure applied on the button while using it IMO.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Shankar, suggest you look at going to Nixon at National market to get it fixed. Ifixit quoted me 3200 for the same job and I got it done in half the time there at 1200.

I read somewhere that you get warranty on American phones in India now too. Maybe it was this thread.

I believe that is only in the case of the iPhone 5, and not the previous versions.

A Friend(Bhpian)got his iPhone 5 replaced in Chandigarh, just because it was scratched.Try your luck by telling them that even home button acts up at times, and you may get a replacement phone.
