Re: The iPhone Thread

I’m on the 12 Pro Max. And I absolutely LOVE its camera.

For me the single most important feature of my iPhone is its camera.
I have absolutely stopped carrying my proper camera except for wildlife sanctuaries and safaris.

Proof of the pudding is below - we are presently on holiday in Simla and I honestly don’t feel the need for any camera other than my 12 Pro Max.

Does anyone have feedback yet on the 14 Pro Max and it’s camera? I don’t mind upgrading, solely for the camera if indeed, there is a significant difference.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

According to notebookcheck test results, the iphone 13 (not pro) was flickering at 620hz, which is a pretty high value. Regular AMOLED smartphones fall in the 200-300 range while the Samsung flagship S22 ultra clocks a pathetic 120hz which is worse than most mid-range phones.

One of my friends started having issues when he moved from his OnePlus Nord 1 to Nord 2. On checking the pwm values I saw that Nord 2 has a pwm frequency of 120hz while his previous Nord 1 had a respectable 367hz. Now he is searching for a replacement and I have asked him to get an iphone 13.

Nice, i have also enabled all the phone settings and notifications also. Yet this Truecaller identification doesnt come up.

I also tried re-installing and rebooting to see if it helps.

Same here. I tried in 6S and 12 Mini. Does not work. Does this require a paid subscription?

Re: The iPhone Thread

To my knowledge, truecaller in ios works only if the caller uses the truecaller dialler to make the call. If the caller uses the native dialer on his/her phone truecaller won't work on the recipient's phone . This is due to the security restrictions on ios - android works differently.

Was able to make it work, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and gave it all permissions required and rebooted the phone.

Bye bye spam

No paid subscription required. Just enable all settings, notifications, etc. And normal dialer detects the spam calls, you dont need to dial from truecaller app. Its working smoothly on my phone

In my experience and extensive research on this nasty Pulse Width Management (PWM), all the hertz readings are pretty useless from a practical viewpoint. PWM affects different people differently, it’s almost inexplicable but that’s what it is.

I can only say to anyone who’s suffering from the affliction is to just go to a store and spend time with the phone. If you are going to have an issue generally you will realise it in ~30 minutes or so. If not convinced do it a couple of times and that’s that. Having said that, people have documented having no issues in a short time and still couldn’t use these phones after a couple of days. That’s the nature of the beast.

I believe in most other countries they have it good because you can buy the phone and still return it within 7 days and get a refund. I don’t think this will happen in India for the foreseeable future even with Apple’s own stores which are to open here.

Cheers

Re: The iPhone Thread

FlipKart exchange program is just hog wash. I had an old 6S, had put in a new battery, skin and tough glass - total cost $200. The online exchange value quoted was 4800, still I was fine with it. First thing he does is remove the tough glass, without even informing me , then he dilly-dallied for 45 minutes pretending check the device (Which is in pristine condition). Finally he quotes Rs 2400. I just cursed my luck - with Time & money both down the drain, sent him packing. No iPhone for me this year

I had a similar experience while exchanging my OnePlus 7 Pro. The price was reduced by half for no reason even when the phone was in pristine working condition.
I then got a much better deal on cashify.

This is a scam from the delivery agents / team. They try to fiddle with the device and after sometime, call their lead and speak separately (not in front of us) and reduce the price to half. When we back off from exchange and ready to pay exchange amount they will ask if they can buy the product for the original exchange amount.

Happened with us and they called us on next day if am ready to sell the mobile.

Better to sell it on other platforms like cashify or directly through olx etc.,

Re: The iPhone Thread

Got it in afternoon.
Flipkart delivery is shitty as usual for high value items. This was clearly an open box delivery. However, the courier guy stated Flipkart didn't mark it as open box delivery so he won't be doing it. I politely insisted so he agreed to do it but kept on insisting it's Flipkart who does this intentionally cos in open box delivery they have to pay 30 Rs extra to delivery guys. Thankfully he opened it an everything was in order. And this is happening with lot of guys so please be vary when yours is delivered.

If it was available on Amazon I would have never bought it from Flipkart.

Finally I have entered the Apple world and in few hours of playing with it, it’s been a delight to use.

The battery backup has been stellar as well.

I did not update any email. I had already given the email id while buying the physical sim. The QR code came to registered email id. I did the same thing yesterday to my new iPhone 13.
  1. Sent an SMS eSIM <registered email_id> to 121 from my old phone
  2. Got a confirmation sms where we are supposed to reply 1 within 60 secs.
  3. After a few minutes, got a call from airtel where we have to again re-confirm by selecting 5
  4. Again after a few minutes, got the QR code in the registered email id.
  5. Went to Settings->Mobile Data->add esim and scanned the QR code.
  6. After a few hours the old sim got deactivated and new esim got activated in new phone.
https://www.airtel.in/esim - This gives all the details in detail.

Hope this helps

Got the exact same green colour from Flipkart yesterday .

My experience was different. The delivery person insisted on opening the cover, box, seal and phone in front of me, without me even asking for it. Maybe he was going for the unboxing experience.
