Ipod to portable HDD Data Transfer

Hi Guys,

How do I transfer the songs on my Ipod to a external 160GB Hard Disk which I purchased to be used as back up. Also is it possible to install and run Itunes on the same.

How do I transfer songs from one Ipod to another.

change the Ipod Setting to Data device from ITunes, then Disconnect Ipod and Reconnect and after than open the Ipod Drive.

Change the Folder Setting to Show Hidden Files.

Then Search for "*.mp3" for Mp3 music in iPod.
Open the containing folder. Copy entire Folder onto the External Drive.

The filename inside iPod with something like "abcd.mp3" the Song name can be obtained from music information by opening its properties in iTunes.

A simpler way would be to use any of the following software.

Backup iPod music to PC copy songs from iPod to computer,iPod to iTunes
iPod rip, transfer iPod to iTunes, backup iPod and iPhone music, enable iPhone and iPod Touch disk mode

It will be more straight forward to back up the songs from the computer itself (that you had loaded the ipod from). Unless you don't have access to the songs on the computer, or the computer itself?
