I have downloaded the new version. Before installing, a couple of questions:
- Will my present bookmarks be automatically transferred to ver 3 ?
- Same with the passwords that I have saved ?

Just downloaded and installed Firefox 3. All my bookmarks and saved passwords are working fine in the new version. A few add-ons are not compatible. Haven't felt any speed difference in loading websites though.

I am using FF-3 (last beta version) for quite some time and after seeing this thread, I checked for updates. Guess what, none were detected. So their last beta was indeed production build.

Currently happily being used on 2 comps.

PS : FF, after 2.4 or 2.5, sucked big time. Tons of memory leaks and hangups made me quit this browser and go to flock (was better than FF 2.4 w.r.t. stability), K-Meleon (the fastest I have seen so far) & of course, Safari (the second fastest). But I do believe that after IE8 is out & Safari add an protection layer for users, this will be a 3 way battle. Not to mention, Apple is already pushing Safari with iTunes as a bundled update. Besides all, Opera has also opened a petition for RFC for Web Browsers. Let's see where they take it.

PS-PS : No flames on what is best. That is already well discussed in another thread.

^^ Open up Firefox, Click Help, then select About Mozilla Firefox. On the resulting window, checkout something like Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0. This is the build number for FF3 Final. Verify that yours is the same.

Been using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0) since beta 3 days. Is that the final build number?

Had installed FF3 from day of release.
Today, I couldn't take it any more, returned back to FF2. FF3 crashed everyday. It was driving me nuts!

fingers crossed, i have not had a crash after upgrading to version 3. compared to that my IE 7 with the latest update has crashed more number of times.

Opera seems more stable than both though.

Those reporting crashes - please try upgrading your Java Run time environment.

And why are some guys reporting 2 downloads for same OS? You can simply copy the downloaded file.

Yes - you can use your bookmarks and passwords. I am using the bookmarks and passwords file from 0.9 days of FF. I think FF will use your existing preferences without prompting.

And guess where I saw FF running couple of days back? On an internet vending machine selling railway tickets!!!

I had upgraded Java and Flash. Some posts on Mozilla forum suggest crashes occur due to 'Flash'. A new version of flash is reported soon, but I couldn't wait and downgraded for now.
I will wait to see if the new version of flash will solve most of the crash problems.
