Hi geeks,
My old sony camcorder is giving a strange problem. often it says "no tape", even with a new tape in. when I plug it in power plug, it starts functioning. I am assuming there is some lack of lubrication which is causing the cam to interpret it as no tape.
anybody knows any quick fix that i can try before I start scouting for a new camcorder?
Did you try the service center? What did they say?
I am in US....with a 4 year old cam, i would have to shell out at least 50$ for just having them look at it....not interested :)
I can get a new HDD cam in 400$, just avoiding it because I know i don't use it a lot anymore.
EDIT: looks like it needs a a nice smack

Ouch! 50$!!!
I had an issue with my camcorder (JVC); the recording always had the top portion missing! 3 visits and a mail to the customer support center at Singapore, got the guys here changing a couple of things (never got a statement) and was never charged for it. Now it is working perfectly.
Hope you get a solution soon! :thumbs up
