I had read somewhere that Avast antivirus had an issue with Vista, that it screws up the resuming from hibernation. Are you using Avast by any chance?

I re-installed Vista after almost 5 months and since the last 4 days the rating has dropped as follows -

7.99 as of today.

My major problem is with the SigmaTel HD audio codec not working properly on my XPS M5130. The audio is horrible and I have been through numerous uninstalls and hangs since the last three days. And twice the hibernate didn't resume properly.

Vista home Premium.
Hey Sandeep, this is a know issue. Sigma Tel was taken over by some other company I forgot the name and that company, they have asked Microsoft to change the name of Sigma Tel to the new company name and when your computer downloads Vista service pack 1 from then on you will have issue with the audio. Go to Dell Support Home Page and install the driver of Sigma Tel from there and also flash your computer BIOS (while flashing make sure your computer is connected with the AC power adapter)

No. I am using Trend Micro PC Cillin 2007 since last year. Now the problem has not recurred but somehow I dont feel happy ... it could "potentially" happen anytime again ..

Mine looks pretty decent I guess - and not a surprise - i hardly get anything to crash.

What is your Reliability Index? - For Vista Users-untitled.jpg

The two crashes seen here are for Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 that locked up, and for Super.exe - the omnipotent video transcoder - that froze up.

Mods,
May be you should change the title of this thread to "Windows Vista Reliability" to differentiate it from Indica-Vista.
