Do these split AC come pre-gassed ? I fancy a split unit as the current one we have (Whirlpool I think) makes too much noise for my liking.

Onida A/Cs have a Hitachi compressor in them, which does have the best ERR rating around.

2 split units + one compressor are costly and less efficient I guess

they are cheaper than 2 spilt ac's.cooling Effeciency is not that bad because it has a higher capacity compressor.energy effeciency must be on par with others specially when it has auto climate control and kaimin mode.

Hitachi's ATOM with 2 indoor units having blowers only and one outdoor unit comprising of one single compressor, is the best option for people who needs to have ACs in 2 nearby rooms.

but you can't start both indoor units together, it won't allow you to do so.
only one indoor unit can work at a time. and you have the option of using the indoor unit of the room in which you are sitting.

no need to buy 2 separate ACs for 2 rooms.

to me it seems the best option as of now.

P.S.: when i purchased my 1.5 ton split AC, i asked them about a 'jugaad' of having 2 indoor units and one outdoor unit, with a "shifter" in the gas-pipeline to divert the gas to the desired unit. but they said "NO".
so i had to purchase another window AC for drg-room. poor me.
Hitachi's ATOM would have probably saved my 20K bucks!
