Our 10-year-plus Daikin, bought used through a local engineer (we were short of cash just then) is still going strong, new lease of life given by a motherboard replacement recently, non-inverter, not very expensive. Only thing is, I bet it drinks electricity compared to a modern machine! Oh, and it is built like a tank, and they certainly don't make them like that any more.

Our other machines are Mitsubishi Electric. No complaints with either inverter or non-inverter models.

General: no experience. (aside: it is not "O General." The thing that looks a bit like an 'O' is a logo. The company name is Fujitsu General. )
