It is only the high cost of toner replacement and even higher cost of repair that is the turn off.

Lexmarki makes good printers, had one almost 10 years back & it was a great VFM printer with good print quality.

Check this out History of Lexmark

Need a good dot matrix printer which is reasonably SILENT !

The ones we currently have at the office drive me crazy with their irritating printing sounds.

Please advice on what models would fit my needs... price indications would be beneficial too.

Lexmark are excellent printers. I got a great deal on Lexmark all-in-one last a year and a half back - the P6250 its called I think. Has worked flawlessly. Much better than all the HP printers I've owned, which gave up the ghost rather quickly.
Ofcourse the reason I got a great deal was Lexmark was shutting down India ops. I've been buying cartridges for my printer abroad. A few months back I saw a news item about some company in Mumbai becoming a distributor for Lexmark. So I guess the cartridge issue may be resolved although I havent seen them at any shops.

I regret opting for a HP all-in-one inkjet (HP PSC 1402) 5 years back still with me for my regular needs. Per page cost comes to Rs.10/- for B&W, I dont dare to calculate the colour cost. Catridges are too expensive. Is there any alternative to exchange this one ? Lexmark is discussed above, anyone has a cost figure per page ? Printers are getting cheaper lately, but companies are choking customers with the catridge cost !! ! A litre of printer catridge liquid is costlier than any other liquid products in the world (source: comparison of all liquid products prices in the world by email)

IIRC, TVS is having a good range of dot matrix printers and they were quite robust.

I have a laser printer 2200D for the past 5 years. It is a wonderful printer. For other copying purposes I had a HP 2400 scanner. Recently the scanner become out of service. I bought HP 4500 All in one Deskjet. I use for scanning and rarely for the special print outs/ I scan in all in one and print in 2200 Laser. It does well.

Any suggestions on a high quality Lazer COLOR printer? Something that will deliver closest results to offset printing?
