I have a samsung monitor 15". It's working fine except sometimes when I turn it on, teh screen is greenish. Switching it off and on again fixes it.

Let me know if you can't get anything. It will be an excuse for me to get a new LCD monitor.

I gave away a 17" LG-Flatron a week back. I just wanted to get rid of it for free. But, the *buyer* insisted that I take 1000/-. So, 1500/- should be the max you pay for 17".

One issue though is that used monitor may be an abused one, and might conk off any time. I guess a 15" TFT should be around 3.5K and would come with warranty.

Of all the components of a PC, the monitor is the one that stays with you for the most time and more importantly, it is one which you interact with and is a very "public" face of things. Considering the dropped hardware prices, you should preferably go in for a new 17" CRT/LCD. The price difference between 15" and 17" is not as significant as the benefit. A new 17" CRT should cost somewhere between 4000 to 4500 and an LCD will set you back by approx. 8000.

If you insist on a second hand one, 1500 is max you should pay. But remember, it is not worth it to pick up second hand PC stuff. They may cost more in the long run or you end up with a monitor with some irritating issue or the other.

But who knows you might be luckier than me!!!

looks like your search has come to a successful close, but I generally check bangalore all for sale / wanted classifieds - craigslist for such stuff.

Else, for PC related stuff, a friend is a dealer. PM me if you want the contact details.

I am planning to buy a new monitor. And LCD\CRT does not much of a differenc to me. Could anyone suggest a place where i would not have to bargain much to buy one? My age old CRT aint displaying anything no more.

Never knew the prices of TFTs have come down so much.

There are dealers who import used comps from Europe & sell here. You will find a good deal from any of them. 3 years back, I picked up a 19" Iiyama professional grade monitor for 3k. Has been working like a charm still.

Re: Old Monitor 15" or 17" in Bangy?

Have a pre used 15" CRT monitor in excellent condition from my desktop. Upgraded to a lappy a while back hence the monitor had no use. Anyone interested can PM me to take it forward.
