Any ideas?
Entirely depends on your usage. If there are specific software you are using which don't have Mac support, then you will need Windows. For such applications, you don't need to INSTALL windows, you can use parallels or vmware fusion to run windows INSIDE mac.

I have installed windows along with Mac on my MBP for gaming purpose.

I have checked with the Apple guys. If we need extended warranty after the one year warranty period, we have to extend the same before the one year warranty expires. Bad Luck!!!
Thanks Avinaash. I will be happy with one Mac ;-)

I am not an avid games player except for the occasional simple car racing or bike racing. but I might try the vmware fusion way just to know the tech involved there. Thanks Gandhi.

Is it possible to lock folders in Leopard?

If one wants to install Windows, why buy a MAC in the first place?
Its the overall package of hardware AND S/W, which tilts it to the other side!

One can live without windows completely in MAC, with all legal S/W available and also feel comfortable.

Hi Ampere,
You are 100% right. One can live comfortably with Mac alone with its own OS,Iwork, iphoto, imovie,i photos and also many other new items beyond PC. So one can very comfortably live on Mac alone with safety.

As an architect by profession, I need autocad on my machine. Since autocad for mac is very expensive, I have been postponing the decision to by a mac. I personally feel that in case I need to install windows on mac, then I may as well buy a windows machine.

Think again, the display on the iMac is fantastic. Using bootcamp, adding Win7 is very easy.

Where can I find the best deals on the new-gen iMac ? Preferably in Mumbai. The list price of the base iMac is Rs85.5k, how much can one expect to get off ?

Ebay has good deals on iMacs.
I bought a Macbook Pro a year back with manufacturer's warrenty and got it at 5K less than what imagine store quoted. Search for one of the sellers called pulsarinc.

Mods : I am no way related to any ebay sellers. Pleasedelete the post if its a conflict.

Re: Apple iMac offer. Any good?

I have a Macbook Unibody 2008 model. It stopped charging all of a sudden. So after the battery died out, I am not able to use the computer any more. I was told that the Logic board (Mother board) needs replacement. Apple service centre quoted me 43K for a motherboard. Is there a vendor/place/website where I can look for a used mother board?

I reside in Bangalore. Thanks a lot.
