Installed in my VPC image. Seems like they are trying to catch with the feature available in the rest of the browsers.

First cut feeling - not worth it, as of now. Going to delete the VPC changes and revert to 7.

Interesting article: Is IE8 really fat and slow? | Ed Bott’s Microsoft Report | ZDNet.com

Has a tip on how to make IE8 faster.

I never use IE for web browsing. Google chrome is fast and user-friendly. Firefox 3.08 is my default though as it is available in both Windows and Linux. Chrome is not yet available in Linux. I use Opera 9.xx on my ancient desktop with 160 MB RAM (if I must go online working with it). This seems to be the least resource hungry of all browsers.

Can't seem to install on my windows 2008! . . . just fails to install without saying anything.

As for chrome, for one i'm not a fan, just nothing special. IE 7 works as fast on windows 2008.

I'm quite happy with Mozilla Firefox. Never liked IE. Tried Chrome too but I prefer Firefox.

One thing that I noticed with IE8 is that it can even render very large HTML files. I am taking about ~60MB HTML file.

IE7, FF and Opera just wouldn't open it and would crash after some time. IE8, even though it took a minute or so, rendered the page!

I have been using IE8 since it was released. I did notice the number of times the browser freezes is more than the previous versions.
