Or do I need to take it to Nokia Care?

I made a small comparison in the previous page.

620 has,
  • Magnetometer
  • Cellular and Wi-Fi network positioning
and HERE City Lens app.
While both 520 & 620 have,
  • A-GPS
  • Glonass

620 has NFC & 520 doesn't.

If you are not going to use the Maps - then you can choose the 520.
I would recommend you to choose 620 as any Smartphone needs proper navigation and without Magnetometer its not proper.

I've bought the 620 for my wife - I must say, its very impressive. Screen quality is very good for the price.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

How would a magnetometer help in maps?
The bearing can be decided by GPS signals too and the map can auto-rotate (if that's the purpose of a magnetometer).

In addition, I have been reading a bit about the Windows Phone 8 environment, there are a few surprising stuff which caught my attention:

1. http://www.ijsmblog.com/2013/02/stil...rosoft-on.html
Talks about the storage space running out because of some mysterious behind the scene stuff which MS refuses to acknowledge and act upon.

2. Can not sync with Outlook by connecting to PC via USB cable!!!
I simply don't have words to express my frustration/anger/disappointment/sadness.

3. No file manager in the phone.
So then what is the point of plug-n-play USB support for drag'n'drop file transfer?

I am in exactly the same position as you.

When I heard about 520 I got excited as its features were good but then a friend of mine have me some info, (see attachment)

After This I decided not to go for 520.

Now I'm looking at importing Lumia 822 Verizon from US.
It costs around $160-$200 on eBay be is pristine condition or new, ie, if you have patience for the auctions. (I missed out a few good deals due to laziness.)

It's better than Lumia 820 with the only drawback being last years looks.
So as I see it, for near 11k I would get a phone which is better than 820, which costs 25k, while only sacrificing looks, which wouldn't matter much as its a secondary phone for me too.

You should check it out.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

Hey fellas!

I picked up a Lumia 520 in black for the wife yesterday. All inclusive for 10k.
Here are the first impressions:

Positives:
1. Decent Screen.
2. Smooth Interface.
3. No lags/jerky UI till now.
4. Poly-Carbonate casing ensures no smudging & fingerprinting issues.
5. User-replaceable battery .
6. Quite light for a phone with a 4 Inch screen.
7. Pretty loud speaker.
8. Good build quality.

Negatives:
1. Windows Phone app store has ridiculously low number of apps.
2. Multitasking is pathetic!
3. Ridiculously limited customization options!
4. No way to kill an app directly from the running app list.

Need to invest in a good MicroSD card with decent capacity. I am worried about large capacity cards slowing down the phone with extended usage, as the wife wants to stuff the phone full of videos & songs & the whole 10 seasons of F.R.I.E.N.D.S .

Any body here used a large capacity MicroSD card with their phone without any noticeable performance hits? By large capacity, I mean at least 16-32 GB's. What are the good brands out there for MicroSD? I recall reading about Class 10 MicroSD cards some time back that guaranteed a transfer rate of 10MB/s.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!
Cheers!

One quick thing. I bought 822 few months back when I had traveled to US. The problem with 822 was that I could not send text messages on T-Mobile network. There wasn't a fix for it at that point. recently I heard that it is fixed after the Portico update. So, I was not sure whether it will work back in India on Airtel/Vodafone networks.

So finally the much awaited Nokia Lumia 720 is available for pre-order at Flipkart for 18500. Good price I must say.
