Ipod Nano, not charging from Cigarette lighter adapter

My IPOD nano is not getting charge from cigarette lighter adapter. It used to charge fine earlier.

Earlier when I used to connect to adapter, battery converts to that charging icon, but now, back light gets on, on connection but icon remains the same, battery keeps draining out.

What could be the issue?

Check in another car, if it charges, the cig lighter fuse in your car may have blown. If it does not, change the charging cable, it may have broken somewhere internally.

check by plugging any other device in the socket to check if the socket is functional.

Try the swapping test to know the root cause of the problem.

My pda and phone is charging fine on the same socket.

Also the cable is fine because its one end is USB, and plug can be changed for cigarette lighter socket or DC power. DC power plug with the same cable is charging it fine.

Also there is a problem in USB charging from Laptop. In my one laptop where iTunes is installed, its getting charged, but no on the other laptop, where itunes is not installed. It used to work on both

Did you update the firmware on your iPod, may be apple had discontinued the working of some third party accessories in new firmware

Do you mean "AC power"? Because the car cig lighter output is DC power.

Possibly the connector going into your Ipod has gone bad?

ok, here is the update, every solution failed. And the Bangalore office gave up and agreed to replace the unit with new one.

Will have to go to service center to get the new unit

Well that's a relief - was beginning to think there was a djinn in the machine!
Of course none of us thought the Ipod was faulty!
