Yes, srijit, I am pretty tempted. I don't have an iPhone and have generally stayed away from the iPhone wave, but this in itself has got me really interested.

It seems that Stanza can be installed on an iPod Touch too! Same for the Kindle SW app. That means you have a really good ebook reader that supports nearly all major formats for about 14k. One that also does a great job with music and movies.

I just came across this blog post (TUAW) about how the popular .cbr (comics) format can be read on the iPhone: View .cbr comics on your iPhone

Nice! As mentioned in the post, the iPhone screen resolution is a bit limited for serious comic viewing, but I'm sure Steve Jobs has the popular WVGA format in mind for future iterations.

Amazon bought out Stanza (the ebook reader for iPhone & iPod Touch) a few days back.

Last month Amazon issued a takedown notice to Mobileread against a bit of software that they had linked to, that let people read non-kindle books on the Kindle (device).

I read today that Amazon had bought Mobipocket (the only ebook reader for Symbian that actually works) in 2005. It is no wonder there has been no development on Mobipocket for the past few years.

Looks like Amazon is looking to covertly take over the ebook market in the long term. :(

Here's hoping that Amazon does not muck up Stanza :(
