Receiving Telephone Calls on Vista

Hi all, need some quick advice ..

I want to de-clutter my office desk by removing the phone line, problem is that I don't know how to RECEIVE phone calls on the Laptop.

Outgoing calls are possible directly from Outlook (by double clicking on the no.) or by using Dialer.Exe, but how do I receive incoming calls? Do I need to install a separate software?

Please note that I am talking about using the regular telephone line, NOT VoIP.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hardware : Use a dialup modem with Voice capability, headset.

Software : Like PC answering machine for your home or office telephone. :: ThePhoneBOT or similar software. Look in download sites.

Not required as the Laptop has the modem built in and is connected to DSL.

I tried the VistaCaller-Id, Vista Caller-ID - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com .. apparently it should work, but doesn't.
