AirTel withdraws AIRTEL ONLINE gprs service

Dear All,

I recieved a message from Airtel stating "We are withdrawing Airtel Online service wef 5th May'09. After 5th May, Enjoy seamless internet on your phone at just 30p/50kb, SMS VBC ACTV to 222(Toll Free)"

I am not sure what does airtel mean by Seamless internet. Till now i was happy with browsing unlimited for 99rs/month on my phone .

Now i feel like saying bye bye to AIRTEL.

Guys, just wanted to know if this happened with others too.

If Airtel is stopping that farce called 'Airtel Live', it can only be good news.

I think they are going the Vodafone way of charging per kb download instead of fixed monthly rental. so there goes my plan to take airtel.

I also think this is good news, if they are stopping limited conncetivity through Airtel Live and instead offering full fledged connection.

Guys, Airtel Live is not the same as Airtel Online. Airtel online was a full fledged connection through which you can browse anything on your mobile just like a pc. unlimited browsing for a monthly rental of 99rs. now its 30ps per 50kb. 6rs per mb and apprx 6000rs per gb. its really not a good news for those who browse a lot.

I dont think it allowed email sites? Only some email app would work right?

For that matter 3rd party apps and chat engines also never worked IIRC

Airtel Online is same as Airtel Mobile Office? If not, I am happy. Otherwise, I will have to switch to BSNL.

@Katpasin

I get 100kbps+ when I am at work and it is pretty good for me to watch videos off youtube.
