Got my Wii from the US.
Sports Resort with the M+ sensor is really great fun to play.

Have 2 queries.
1. Has anyone modded their Wii's in Bangalore ? A shop guy I spoke to is asking for 2k for the Mod and he says it will take 1 days time.
2. Have you switched to a Component cable from the default Composite? After this was there any noticeable difference in the output on a Flat screen TV ?

I bought it online from Amazon. $199, and had it shipped to a friend of mine who was visiting the US. He got it for me.

This is the latest package which comes with the console , remote, nunchuk, motion plus sensor and 2 CD's
Sports and Sports Resort they have 5 + 12 sporting games in all.

I've seen the same package available in Bangalore.

Gray Market Korean make modded around 17k
Sapphire Toys - 20k NTSC US model non modded

The old model without Motion Plus package is available in the Gray market from 13k onwards (modded , Korean make)

buying wii from target/walmart

so buying online is still cheaper, in case someone is travelling.
later we can soft mod and even after that it would cost lesser than here.

Wii can be soft-modded for ZERO cost at your home. Just search the net for more info. The only restriction is that the firmware version should be < 4.3.
The latest 4.3 update has disabled all the hacks and has not been not cracked yet.

You will get Wii for $199 in Best Buy and $193 in Costco. Costco deal is clearly better since it also packs an extra game.

1. do you mean softmod? you can do it yourself. there are lots of easy to follow tutorials around. anyone charging 2K is just ripping you off
2. Yes, component has improvement over regular o/p. Not by a huge margin though. I wish they had native 720p at least.

The extra game i.e. Wii Sports Resort is given by everyone now. i.e. the new package that comes with the M+ sensor.

I am planning to get Wii Fit and some more game CDs. The issue is my Wii console says it supports only PAL Wii CDs (mine is made for Europe). So when I went shopping yesterday in Bangalore, I was shocked to find that all the CDs available need NTSC support. Do any of you guys know where I can get PAL CDs? Through the TV supports both, the Wii console may not accept NTSC format. Unfortunately, I don't have friends and relatives in Europe . Is it possible to get it online or by other means? Any help here is appreciated.

Just checked in national market for PS2 [for modchip]. The standard rate is 1.2K.

Btw, to softmod you need atleast the source console to be modded to write the content to the memory card for the first time.

Ofcourse, this is for the PS2, and I assume it would be same for Wii too. Right?

for wii, softmod is enough. what it means is , just replace some system files(like drivers) with modified/hacked files, which allows the backup games to be run.

visit wiihacks for details

One caution though: the latest wii doesnt allow backed up dvd games to be run...
only option is to use usb loader and hdd to run the backup games.

nopes you just need an SD card. There's no reason to use a modchip for a Wii. As chetans mentioned try googling or read up WiiHack.
