file length problem

hey guys, i have some mpg vides etc on my comp of things like funny ads etc. now when i play them if the actually length is 5 mins in windows media it only shows the length as 1 minute. how can i fix it? this is happening in all media players and if i forward to a point it plays the file according to the actualy length but if i just let it play it only plays the first minute.

Possible reasons:
1. Your files got corrupted or not copied properly when you tried to move them.
2. Uninstall the codecs and reinstall a single codec pack. (This might solve the problem)

only some files are like that. so maybe some are corrupted. any way to fix it?

You can try re-encoding the files, lots of free converters are available.
I had similar problem with mp3 files, when I play it on the car stereo it made a crackling noise. Re-encoded the files and it plays fine.
