Use your routine messaging app inbuilt in your phone. Works seamlessly.

What do you do with old phones which are of no use now. Either the battery has totally run down or phone doesn't even power up because of whatever reasons. I want to throw them in the trash but am worried if someone can retrieve some passwords or something from it.

I have them running 24x7 as a clock on the bedside table. And factory reset wipes the phone clean, no further action necessary.

2 of the 3 old phones in my home don't even boot up. Probably the battery is dead.

There is an app for it. It over writes all data in persistent memories several times over. This makes recovery impossible. I have not used such apps myself, because I have not thrown the old phones away so far. All are lying around somewhere.

I have always handed them over to certified E-waste agencies. They scrap and use the metals I believe. Seems to be a safe option. If you think the data is the issue, open the phone and take out/destroy the memory.

Updated my Pixel 6 to the Android 13 QPR2 beta yesterday and 5G has been enabled for Airtel and Jio - can access it from South Delhi. All else is working fine

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I want to choose one of these three for my wife.
S21 FE - @ 35k
A73 - @ 38k
Moto Edge 30 fusion @ 40k

All of these prices are without any offers or exchange deals.
I am inclined towards S21 FE considering form factor and camera plus now it has become the cheapest of the three. But it's Exynos chipset and reports of it heating up is holding me back.

Which one do you recommend?

S21 FE would be the best in my opinion, this heating up of the Exynos really will not matter unless your wife is a heavy gamer! For normal daily usage, it is perfect and will also receive Android updates in a timely fashion.

Thanks for the update. Kindly confirm if this is Pixel 6 or officially sold 6a.

I have a Pixel 6 and was skeptical if this unofficial phone will ever get 5G in India since Google only assured about 5G updates for officially sold 6a, 7 and 7pro.

It is Pixel 6 purchased from Amazon, at least a year ago.

I agree with S21FE, its perfect in size. with normal usage there are no battery or heating concerns as well. my wife is using it since last Oct and very happy with it.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Ive been waiting for ages to see a compact smartphone (5.8-6.2") with decent specs but that seems to be a nowhere.

Wished the Asus 8 to get a price cut, but it went out of stock itself.

I don't want to spend 40K upwards and the limited choices offered by Pixel and Apple are well beyond my budget. It is a pity that we do not get these phones at all.

I hope to see them someday.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Wife's Poco F3 GT seems to have gone into Boot Loop and not starting up. Visited the Mi Service Center and they checked the phone and say Motherboard issue and Motherboard needs a replacement and would cost approx. 16K.

Anyone has recommendations for a 3rd Party Mobile repair shop that can check this?

Also, if we decide not to go for the Motherboard Repair due to price being high - is there a way the Mobile Repair guys can retrieve the Data from the Mobile?

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Quick Question to the experts - how important is the n77 band in the 5G Spectrum? Was looking at the recently launched Poco X5 Pro and found that this phone has the n77 band missing. Is this a dealbreaker?
