Satnav 2009 Vs Miomap 2008

I was using both satnav and miomap 2008 in my PND. recently i had been to tirupati from bangalore

Miomap was much better than satnav.

More coverage of arterial roads than satnav. satnav only NH no state highway coverage.

Coverage with tirupati city is very good in miomap. infact entire ghat road up to tirumala was covered accurately. even on the top of hills too coverage is good.

On the way it shows villages once it is near to them

Chittor, kolar, mulbagal bypasses are covered as well as chittor town.

I had been to small places like karvetinagaram and narayanavanam from chittoor via puttur road. both the places are covered as well as the roads leading to them. Satnav was showing the puttur road. but miomap was with villages on the way

Only problem with miomap was alphabets were too small. i could not find a way to enlarge tham

Miomap navigator shows PIP which indicates the turn with distance on a real time basis.

I'm guessing Miomap uses MMI (Map My India) maps.

If the map is indeed provided by MMI, you can try using ViaGPS 3.0 which works with the same maps. You'll have to hunt it down via some torrents/RS links though.

I could be wrong, but IIRC, Miomaps is nothing but a re-skinned ViaGPS SW.
