Hey this latop seems adequate for most needs. Now that the Ferrari is you can make the old laptop your MP3 player.

Sam what are you doing on that laptop that you need a Duo chip and 2GB of RAM? I use my T41p (1GB) for FEA and it works ok.

Let us know how much faster than the Toshiba it is.

Apple: I know apple is shfting to Intel but the Power PC stuff is stull good. The prices they are quoting are same as USD prices.

Dippy,

Good choice and a good price. I am using R51 (good work horse) and for the past 18 months, no problems. In fact we had a bulk buy, about 200 pieces. IBM gives excellent back-up to us.

Happy computing and surfing....

You need to do this for every battery. My friend who also has a R51 had to replace his battery(under warranty ofcourse) cos his battery started giving him 15 mins battery life after a year..........its best to charge up your battery completely and then discharge it as much as you can before charging it again.this maybe the best thing to do but its too much work.....

I had put this idea on this forum a few months ago. An old laptop makes a woth car adio player including a dvd player and a gaming station.

Laptop query.....Help!

Firstly let me say that i read all the threads related to laptops in this section. But my requirement are slightly different..!

I require a laptop running windows 98 / windows 98 se only. Secondly it should have serial port for for two-way communication. Then it should also have a usb port.

The rest of the stuff are usual. 17/15 colour screen.Decent performance.
I don't mind picking up a used one as well.If u tell me some place in Bangalore where i can find some these laptops...it would be great.

Do you get some sort of assembled laptops ( like what we get for pc's).I have zero knowledge with things related to laptops. Please enlighten......

Guys have a look at the recenlty launched Dual core "Intel Inside" Apple note books... Apple claims 4x perfomance over the previous gen G4 Laptops.

And who's yonah?
Yonah is the internal code name used inside intel. This is different from the marketing name with which the processor will be launched.

you can also attach USB TO serial converter which you can buy from local laptop shop or from ebay.in. You can go with decent old Celeron laptop with atleast 256mb ram and it will work just fine.

I think now since apple has Intel processor we can also install windows operating system on it and have dual operating systems. if this works (we can install windows as well on separate partition) I will consider buying apple laptop soon.
