I actually already tried that and it costs $150 which is a big gamble for me not worth the effort.

May be I will end up getting up wireless keyboard and mouse I already have and make use of it.

My Lenovo Yoga 370 conked out last night. Doesn't power on with or without power supply. Any ideas as to what might have gone wrong?

Re: The Laptop Thread: Configs, deals & questions

My Asus laptop suddenly turns off immediately(not shut down) when it runs on battery even if its 100% charged but it runs without any issues when its plugged in. When it is being charged it says "plugged in". I checked the battery report and it seems to be in good condition. I also disconnected and connected the battery. Can anyone tell what might be the issue.

If you have windows 10

Open CMD ( Run as administrator )
type CD\
type powercfg /batteryreport

This will put a battery report on your C :

Read the battery report and check how old is the battery its rated capacity vs what capacity is it capable of today.

For instance, my ASUS ROG GL 502 VT came with a 64mWH capacity battery. Today even at 100% it just holds 23mWH and it about 5 years old. So it has regenerated over the years and doesn't hold a charge to its full capacity.

This was the same thing I did to get the battery report bro. My rated capacity was 34,560 mWh and my current capacity is 28,360 mWh. In this case what to do bro?

Ok, I have another option - Download HW Monitor - https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmo...nitor_1.41.zip

Download and run the correct version - mostly 64bit english.

In the attached image, you can see 'Wear Level' under the battery (at the bottom of the image). That will give you a fair bit of idea of your battery status.
I feel that your battery's capacity to hold charge is gone and hence, the switching off when power is unplugged. Post an image here, it might help others to understand the status of your battery.

Not sure what the issue might be, could be some internal IC issue. Can you post the battery specs? How old is the laptop/battery?

Check for the blinking pattern of the power indicator. If it blinks 5 Times white and 2 times Orange then it signifies RAM issue.

It might be the case of RAM slot getting lose. You need to open the Laptop and change the slot. It worked for me on my Dell Laptop. Hope it helps.

Re: Dell 'Vostro' HDD Upgrade?

I would like to upgrade the HDD on Dell 'Vostro' 1440 to SSD.
The stock HDD is '320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive'.

1. Can I upgrade to 512GB SSD for this model?
2. Also, What I need to look out for in the SSD so that it is compatible?

Please advise!

1. Yes, you can upgrade to a 500+GB SSD. You can go for a higher capacity if you want as well.
2. The only requirement that you need to look out for in terms of compatibility is to ensure that it is a SATA SSD.

Cheers

1. You can upgrade to 2TB SSD if you need. No issues with that.
2. It should be a SATA SSD. Crucial MX500 is what i have since past couple of years and it is one of the best out there. Samsung, Kingston, WD are other reputable brands.

I use this one.
