HELP - SD Card Corrupted - Photos Lost - Need help in recovering them

Hi All,

I use an HTC P3400i and have a 2GB Transcend SD Card

Yesterday, something weird happened. I was trying to transfer photos from my phone to the laptop and after switching on the Bluetooth on my laptop, went to the Bluetooth exchange folder. There I accessed my PDA image folder and tried to copy some photos. All of a sudden, I got an error message and then I found to my horror that the photos on my phone memory card vanished without a trace. (I did not use the cut option and used only the copy function).

The operation was aborted, I switched off the Bluetooth on the laptop, and then saw that more pics were missing from my SD card

I have lost all the videos that I recorded and some very neat photos with my wife / daughter and some more good pics

Please let me know if there is any way I can retrieve these pics from my memory card.

For anyone who can successfully help me with this, I will definitely send you a small token of my appreciation (I will get in touch with you for your address later) as some of those pics are priceless. (and they are very very recent)

Thanks

Hi DreamCatcher,
You could try contacting any nearby photo printing store and ask them if they could retrieve it for you.
You could also try using this software Memory Card Recovery Software to Recover Lost Photos - CardRecovery.
The free trial will already read the data from your card and shows you what all it can recover. You could see these pictures and if you are ok/happy with it, you could then buy the software and recover them.
For the above software to work, you would need a card reader on your laptop.
Hope this helps. You getting back your priceless pictures is more than any token of appreciation!
Cheers,
Deepak

Even though the SD card shows no photos on it, it will still have them and card recovery software will be able to get them back for you. However be prepared to lose a few in the process.

Hey Shakir,
Thanks a lot for this link.
This seems like freeware. Great! I searched a lot and could only find the below software. It works well, but of course, one needs to buy the license to recover them.
Cheers,
Deepak

I know that the regular recovery software don't work (restoration.exe) on memory cards. you might try doing a sector by sector copy of your card to a hard disk (on a entirely new partition) and they run recovery software on it.

And make it read only until that happens. you don't want to damage it any further.

There are a host of free tools to recover deleted files from a disk/ card, as long as you have overwritten the "space" they used with newer files. I have had varied levels of success with them. Some that I have tried:

PCInspector File Recovery
Disk Digger
Roadkil's Undelete
