TataSky converted to HD for LCD panel?

I have a regular TataSky connection which is connected to my Sony Bravia LCD using a RCA cable (3 cables: red, yellow, white).

I have seen in many electronic stores like CROMA, EZONE etc. that they use some box which (i feel) upconverts the DTH to HD and also has HDMI connecting to TV. These boxes normally have stickers saying "Not for SALE".

Any one has any idea what are these boxes called? Are they available in India? Abroad? Approx. Prices?

i think these boxes take in one cable signal and take out multiple signals. so that the store dosent have to buy an stb for each tv.

Its not possible to convert regular res to HD. This is like taking a 72ppi image from the net, opening it in Photoshop, converting it to 300ppi and calling it higher resolution.

End of the day, the clarity of the image still remains the same.

If you were to compare true HD and upscaled HD side by side, you'd see a very big diff in clarity.

Those are upscalers used to improve the output of a regular off the shelf DVD player.

Technically it's hoodwinking people, donno how they get by doing it.

Faroudja makes excellent video up scalers, and they are bundled with Home theatre Amplifiers (high end) as well as high end DVD/BD players.
