can anyone help explaining the utility of this HD Player gadget?

hi All,

I am in houston for 2 weeks and was hunting for a Wii for my kids when i came across this link :

Kodak Theatre HD Player with Remote - QVC.com

Now i have a 42" plasma and a HT setup at home with a Philips SD DVD player. Can anyone explain the utility value of this HD player? What it can or cannot do as well as the usages it can be put through? I dont want to just buy a gadget and let i lie at the corner of my home if its not going to be of any decent use. I have done that before and have been critized for wasting money and not using them.

thanks
kpb

Media players are gadgets which allow you to connect your storage devices (HDD) via USB and give HDMI/RCA/Component (depends on the player) output which you can hook up to your HDTV.

If you own a laptop - you'd be able to connect the same to your TV and watch the content that you have on the lappy. This is something similar. There are other popular brands out there, this one looks too average.

WDTV Live, Xtreamer, Play On, etc.

Some of these also have an ethernet port to directly watch youtube videos, etc.
