which fone?

hey guys my dads bday is comin up and am thinkin of buyin him a cellfone.need a very good cellfone which shud be very user friendly....and my dad is completely against cameras in fones cos wen he travels abroad a lot of hotels do not allow carrying camera fones in public areasbudget around 14000 but no camera fone pleez.shud look elegant n not too flashy.

No camera, elegant and not too flashy sounds like a Nokia 9300...not a great PDA but good for someone used only to phones. Dunno about the budget, though.

I bought a LG B2050 for my wife as a gift just last month....
its nice, light, easy to use and no camera (sicne I hate that too in a phone) but very cheap compared to your budget....its only 5k

Take a look at the Nokia 6021... costs somewhere between 6-7k and got a lot of features and also it DON'T have the camera! imho it looks very decent and clean and elegant.

nokia 2600. samsung x230/260 ( i think). under 5k

sony ericsson k500i > 5k

or try some clam motorolas

9300 is BIG and cost > 20k

your dad needs an eligant phone but you didnt mention if u need bluetooth or not.

so here goes the list

with bluetooth
siemens sk65(comes with blackberry client)
nokia 9300(smaller communicator)
siemens sx66( imate design without a camera)
siemens sp65(s65 without a camera)
blackberry 7100t/v/x( the real blackberry phone)
vertu ascent(your dad will love it)

mpx200

basic small vga camera
nokia 8800

according to me your best bet would be motorola mpx200(windows phone)nokia 8800, nokia 9300, blackberry, or siemens sp65.

Is there any upgrade from a 6230. Same budget but should have better or same features.
Got a 6600 in mind but can it play MP3's? Or do i need to download an application or the same?

You could try and the the old communicator, ie Nokia 9250i. Umm, then there is some model from HP, thats a PDA and should cost arnd 22k.

The cam prob is not in the hotels but in some working places too. Most of them don't allow cam fones. and u can't carry them in hospitals(some sections)

I second that! I also had the same thing in mind... simple, elegant but no camera. It has bluetooth too so you can probably add a nice bluetooth headset. The phone is around 6.5K

6230i is the best upgrade for you. If you can strech you budget a little bit more then its the 6681, which is what I am using right now after upgrading from my 6600 after a year or two. Dont even think abt the 6600 its a crappy phone, its almost outdated now thats y Nokia is getting it with black color and 64mb card to move sales since it has been a best seller but not to forget it was launched 2 years ago! At that time it was the best phone around in the Nokia range but far from it now. I had a bad time with my 6600 so I suggest you dont get it coz the software is too flimsy.

@Hellspawn - 6021 is the best phone for you, I recently bought it for my uncle who just wanted a basic phone without the frills. The 6021 has a nice executive look, simple but good looking phone. I think it perfectly matchs your needs. 2nd choice would be 6230i which is a brilliant phone once again very simple but greaatt looking phone with a sweet 256k screen and a 1.3 megapixel camera it has a lot more to offer than the 6021 so give it a look and it will just about meet your budget.

LOL!1 sorry to say but that phone has been priced wth a range of 10k. please mention your budget. btw w800i/k750i fit perfectly in that budget.
