Re: Long HDMI/Component cables for projector

Hi folks,

I have been toying with the idea of getting a DLP projector to add to my Home Theater.

Now my Philips DVD player (HDMI/component), Denon Amp is up there in the front and I want to place my Projector as the back from where it would project to a removable screen in the front of the room.

Can one find long HDMI /component cables to run all the way from the DVD player to the receiver? Or will I have to compromise and use the normal video cable? I am looking at cables upto 20 feet in length.

Any ideas??

@johy - You get HDMI cables upto 15mtrs in length. I bought one recently for my projector. Costed me a little more than 12k.

you bought 45ft of HDMI cables? Why would you do that? I think Johy wanted only 3-4 meters of HDMI

I have a Sony 3LCD projector (VPLHS20) and looking to get a projection screen. Do we get projection screens in India for home projectors? Any Idea how much it would cost here in Bangalore and where I could get them?

Cause that is approximately the distance from my receiver to the projector. My projection image size is 124 inches diagonal. And the room is quite big.

Vikram - which projector do you use? Any projectors on the lower side of 60k?

Hi all,
Reliance Digital is offering a HT package with Onkyo TX-SR505 + Jamo 5.1 speakers (fronts are floorstanders) for Rs.40K (MRP mentioned as Rs.57.5K) as special Valentine's day offer.
Saw the ad in today's New Bombay times. Jamo's model nos. were not mentioned. I know 505 does not support HDMI, but outside of this fact, is it worth a buy? Shall visit the outlet today evening to find out more details.
Pl reply quickly...the offer is valid only between 14th-17th Feb.

Glad that a similar offer is still on. Onkyo is now selling the "Amazer" package consisting of TX-SR505 Receiver and SKS-HT230 Speakers for 40K. Offer valid till 30April2008.

I have to decide within the next 2 days. Any suggestions on a setup better than this at this cost or lesser

The same setup up in the US is for $500. Any way to get it from the US safely ?

If you are interested in Sony try this one Sony HTDDW1600(6.2)1510w RMS(185*6 +200*2) it might cost you 36-38 depends on the dealer you buy.

The good:

* Good sound for a HTIB
* Excellent value
* Imposing

The bad:

* No OSD
* HDMI switching but no decoding

The Home Theater thread-htddw1600.jpg
* No HDMI Audio out(only vedio out)
