How about ONKYO HTS-3100?. I checked it at ezone, they are offering the same for Rs.22225.

3100 AFAIK does not have HDMI. If you have enough inputs on your display for HDMI, this should not matter because as far as I know, 3200 plainly passes the HDMI signal through the receiver.

3100 at that price is too steep.

EDIT: 3100 and 3200 come with passive sub, so my suggestion would be to look at other options.

^^ i would strongly suggest going with something which has hdmi - i realized i needed this when i started using my laptop (w hdmi) as a hd player. Laptops mostly do not have a s/pdif out but most have hdmi nowadays and are fairly capable of doing full hd and so are most new netbooks (hp mini 311, etc)

Try the AVR255. Good entry level AV RX. Comes with a HDMI port as well.

If you're auditioning HK/JBL, I suggest you consider Denon DHT 390, which is around 29-30k. JBLs are supposed to be very good with HK and perceived to be a little on the brighter side with receivers like Yamaha and the like.

HTiBs are no substitute to tailor made HTs, so if you're on a budget you're bound to make some compromises. BTW, I hope you know these are all just receiver+speakers, player and cables cost you extra. If you plan to take this in stages, get a very good receiver and surrounds, you can later upgrade the fronts to Bookshelf/Floor-standing.

Posting your full plan will definitely help.

I am on the lookout for a Home theatre (in a box / custom made) within a budget of 30k for the bedroom in my new house. It's about 150 sq feet large. I have already wired the place up with the best possible wire (for a 5.1 system) and I like the Pioneer HTP RS40 but the trouble is, it comes with towers. There is no place for towers and I will have to do with satellites.
Can someone suggest me a good system with ATLEAST a 10 inch subwoofer. 12 inches would be perfect!

For in-a-box solution, did you look at Bose? Others may be a tad bigger in size. If that is fine, then I wont recommend bose. Else its a decent choice.

Frank, I bought the RS40 todoroki 2 days back.. man, IT ROCKS! 12" active sub... Compromise on the floor towers (yes they ARE bulky)

I didnt like the JBL though! (May be the arrogance of the delhi distributor)

Extended (read 5-6 hrs +) listening is due as the setup would be delivered in a day or two! I bought at 38K (LLLLOOOOTTT of negotiations) against an MRP of 46K.

Initial impressions (1/2 hr listening) were excellent. Have audtioned Sony HTDDW 5500 (3rd Grade experience), Yamaha (Highest distortion @ high volumes but very clear and lively at lower volumes - supplied without sub), Onkyo (Mid oriented sound) and various other Sony HTiBs, JBL (dont know the model no).

Todoroki ROCKS overall.
