Should be possible. But what I would suggest is look for a amp, which can also output 5.1 and not just sterio. (I guess most amps already do that)

Then you can look at good floor standing speakers for L/R.

I guess the shops are the same though. HK/Denon is what I am aware of. Profx at MG road and Indiajbl.com should tell you about HK.

I have an Onkyo 5.1 channel HT at home since the time they had launched in Hyderabad in 2005.

Trust me, even to this day it works flawlessly and the music is very crisp and bass is also quite impressive for the price that i had paid then ( about 28K for a second from bottom model)

Till date, never had the opportunity to use the service of Onkyo as it never ditched me despite my "ALMOST" daily usage of the home theatre.

If you like the sound, dont think twice. Go for it

I have been using an Onkyo amplifier it is a 5.1 something, Dolby & THX certified unit, do not recall the model coupled to an Onkyo double cassette deck with a multiple frequency external equalizer coupled to an Onkyo DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 player(added in 2000~2001) all coupled to a pair of Bose 301 direct speakers since 1998.

I am not an audiophile and do not really look after the components but have not had an issue with the set up except for the DVD player about three years back. The unit was serviced and the lens was either cleaned or replaced and we were back on track. All of the components have electro mechanical switches. You press a button on the remote or on the face and something goes click deep inside and action! As you can see the post is more on the longevity of the equipment rather than dealers service etc. However I would ask you to go ahead and if there is an issue just turn the volume up and the matter can be escalated with the 'company' here in Delhi.

Happy listening !

Sony Home theater system, Wiring Help Needed

I've a 4-5 yr old Sony Mini HiFi System. full details here
The Home Theater thread-sony_mhcrv888d.jpg

I've not placed the surround speakers at rear and with recent repairs of entire house the satellite speaker cables are mis-placed or lost.

Can some one suggest which wires should be used, the only wire I've currently is for the central speaker and its a thin copper wire which came along the system itself.
Speakers would be approx 4 meter away from system however to prevent them coming in way i'll have to move them along walls and it would be 6-8 meter away from main unit.

Visited a store and there was some speaker wire suggested which was like semi-transparent and had copper wires @ Rs.14/mtr.
should i use them for surround speakers or is there any specific ones.

I'll be connecting my 32 inch Bravia to it, already have all other cables.

Hi:

How good is the VCS10 (bose center)? I am quoted Rs 11k for it. Is it worth that price?. I have a Acoustimass 10 system and thought of adding a VCS10 to complement the existing setup.

Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on it.

Thank you.

I have had an ONKYO for about 3 years now. No problems at all! There is only one place to get it serviced at, in Delhi, but haven't bothered to touch base with them yet. Touch wood, instead!

Make sure things are brand new and not demo stuff, refurbrished, etc. Unless you don't mind it being so.

Deal sounds too good to be true but, make sure the actual negotiated price is what you get in market.

Usually all those large electronic stores package in such a way that all items cost is included in final price.

Offer really seems to be too good. As told , i have ended up buying unwanted stuff like xbox and THX home theater . But i will resale them at subsidised price as i dont need them. It comes with 1 Year Manufacturer warranty.

Are you sure that Home Theater is THX? I guess it is Onkyo 3100 in the offer and that is the most basic Onkyo without HDMI.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
