I sometimes find the RTi4s a tad bright and was looking for something smoother and a little laid back? Any suggestions?
Smoother speakers @ around 35k
1. Acoustic Energy Neo 5
2. Monitor Audio BR 5
3. KEf IQ5

Audition the above, for the price point these are the smoothest.

Videocon Integra 32in LCD ( costing 33K after exchange)

Yamaha RX-V 459 amp
Cerwin Vega AVS 5.1
For ~33K

Pioneer DVD player ~3.5K

it seems to be a good deal considering the price. All products are with B&W except the Pioneer

E-Zone is selling this 6.1 Onkyo HT set (AVR+ speakers + sub) for 19.9k!
ONKYO SIGHT & SOUND - INDIA

Sounds like great VFM to me. Should I get it? I'm in the market for a HT anyway. Any feedback on this product?

Was initially looking at this 5.1 setup:
ONKYO SIGHT & SOUND - INDIA
Had been quoted a price of 24k for this.

I noticed that the RMS power per speaker for the 5.1 is 120 W/Ch Continuous 6 ohms, while it's rated at 100 W/Ch, continuous 8 ohms for the 6.1. Can someone translate this into English for me in terms of sound quality and power delivery?
And is 6.1 recommended over a 5.1?

Took the plunge and bought the Onkyo 6.1 HT setup. Will be getting delivery in about 10 days time (they're out of stock, such has been the demand). Will post a review sometime after.

I'm looking at a Sherwood receiver, with Dali Blue 3003 floorstanders, for the audio part, for the moment. Any experiences with these brands?

Yes the Onkyo offer is really excellent. Btw the same HT used to sell in the US for less than 15K. Onkyo was selling it in India for around 34K. I had haggled with Onkyo on this and they were only willing to reduce the price till 29K. This was six months back.

Prices of non HDMI compliant Receivers/HT will come down as everyone is into HDMI nowadays.

One thing I noticed is that the Onkyo HT-R430 receiver has no component video in/out. Now I am keen on using component cables to connect the DVD player to the TV, and was thinking of connecting them directly, bypassing the receiver. Audio from the DVD can be routed to the receiver via a coax/optical cable.
Now I know this is possible... my question is, can this result in video and audio getting out of sync, since they are being routed differently?

Also, is there any recommended online seller of cables (optical/coaxial, subwoofer wires, speaker wires, component cables etc) based in India?

there is a possibility that if you connect video to tv directly and opt/coax audio to receiver, you get audio-video out of sync.
But most receivers have a sync adjust so that you eliminate this
The only other way is to send audio/video both to the receiver and then from there take video to tv.

In my case I connect just video to my tv and all audio inputs go to onkyo ht-s990. All i had to do was adjust sync 1 level and everythings fine
