Why do you need Kindle device? I read my Kindle books on PC, my Phone, or iPad when I don't have my Kindle with me. Kindle app is available for every platform.

Say I was reading a book on Kindle. Then I go to pick up my son, and need to wait in the car. I open the same book on my smartphone and continue reading. Later I come home and back to the same book on PC. My bookmark is preserved when I switch between devices.

Regarding the discussion of whether you actually own the book, it is debatable.

Yeah maybe we've still got the old thinking that if I bought it, I own it.

I am sure one day we will wake up to a brave new world where DRM is not there for any kind of media.

Till then, I believe Kindle is a good compromise - given how extensive their library is.

I love their library no doubts about it. And yes, I too wish for that day.

Maybe I wasn't clear there. I meant I can read that book only on an Amazon device or app. Anything with the Kindle name on it. I cannot read the Kindle book on my Kobo Glo right?

But you knew that while going in for Kobo. I had mentioned it in the last page:

Therefore, when you went with Kobo, I figured you are rejecting the Amazon world altogether.

Looking to sell a 4th gen like-new Kindle basic. Battery lasts like, forever.
Reason? I got the paperwhite. PM me.

The paperwhite price is back to being 11,000 instead of 9,000 a month or so ago.

Any idea when if / when the discount will be back ?

Also any idea when the Kindle Voyager would make an entry in India?

Check with StarScream here, he said that discount is always available.

Use the Amazon app and HDFC card to get 10% cashback.

apply EBAYTYROO1 and get further ten percent off.

Just check warranty now - which looks to be okay.

How so? I can think of only one possibility; they all store bookmark info in the cloud, therefore all of them are internet or 3G enabled, both when closing the reader as well as when opening it.

Is your smartphone always 3G enabled?

Please enlighten!

It is no mystery, storing the book marks in cloud is one of Kindle's oldest features.

Is there a non-3G smartphone these days? My last 5 smartphones have been 3G enabled.

I know, sir. I asked because I must be in that miniscule minority that keeps everything (GPS, Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) off all the time, turning on only the required features for the necessary time then turning them off again.

Don't know how this is so cheap, generally retails for ~10k. If you're in the market for a e-reader, you should get this (at this price). The seller rep seems good too.

This is my first e-book reader and I love it. The option to turn on/off the light is nice. Perfect for reading on those travels and for reading without bothering anyone else.

Thank you Prateek and naveen - I was fence sitting for a long time to invest in a E-Reader (Kindle paperwhite, in fact) but this deal clinched it for me and I brought it (Kobo Glo) today from oddlots_electronics. Now the wait starts to get it in my hands.

@Naveen: Can you post a review since you have been using this for some time now?

Hey, thats awesome Anoop!

Hope you have received it already and no longer need that review :D

How is your experience with the reader? Are you using an SD card?

I found KOBO glo to be bit buggy than previous KOBO touch. I haven't felt the need to add any SD card, since getting too many books will drag the speeds of browsing the library, and I read max 3-4 books in parallel.
